Looking at our last two games. We will need to step it up when playing the French who had a very good win last night.

Teams like Sweden will also be difficult. I dont think its a given this year that we will get out the group stages.

Formation and tactics are poor and it is the worse squard of players we are taking to a tournement.
In the 90s it was a case of which top player wont make the squad now its which average player will be going. Again it comes back to academies in the country at all clubs not bringing thru players but also because of the money in the game clubs want instant success rather than invest in their youth

If we are runners up in the group we will meet Spain in the quarters - will need to park the bus for that one!!

voted for the quarters, but, an interesting bet im trying to find england to go out without conceding a goal. Let me explain, after watching the last 2 games Roy has get them very defensivly set and i cant see us conceeding a goal in the group, on the flip side of that going forward we cant pass the ball and our strikers i fear will be marked out of the game so i cant see us scoring. 3 games 3 0-0's france to beat the russkies, sweeden to beat the russkies france win the group sweeden second england 3rd. ok crystal ball going away now just trying to get odds on the results as a accumaltor!

In my view the first game against France will dictate who wins the group.
If we lose then the second game against the Swedes will dicate who is second (Ukraine not in the equation)
My worry about Hodgson's England is if the opposition score first

Kicked out in group stages, this England side is the worst in 20 years.

I blame it on the the FA The premiership is governed by more foreign players than British players.

I said years ago it will bite the national sides of Great Briton it is taking its toll big time.

Maybe this time with a bit of team spirit and organisation they may actually do better than we expect them to (for once)

Expectation levels must be the lowest ever for England, as shown by the lowest ever support at the games when England fans will be outnumbered. It all points to a workmanlike performance without producing the quality in the final third of the field. But didn't they say that about Germany in World cup 2010. I feel that England will surprise a lot of people with the results, perhaps not so much in the quality of their play. Anticipate possession will work out to about 40% to 60%. But what do I know.

I think unfortunately my money is on Germany to win this year. When u look at a team u know how good they are by the players on their bench which most could probably get in our team.

Think France could be a dark horse as they have been playing well recently.

Englands only hope is to win a boring 1-0 each game as im struggling to see who will score goals as the current style of football has gerrard playing deep and against norway we struggle to put the ball in the air for carroll to attack.

Looks like a few people are correct on this poll, I said in a previous thread that England without the pressure could do well this tournament, do you really fear the Italians or would you of preferred Spain?

    Wouldn't make much difference I don't think.
Spain aren't playing quite as well as in the past - think they miss David Villa.
Italy game could go either way.
If we bore our way to the semis that will be sweet revenge on them as they've done that for years!
Our best hope is that all the good luck we've missed out on for years has finally decided to arrive this time round.

Well looks like we were right!
To be fair it would have been daylight robbery if we won the penalty shoot-out
