take a look at our squad from Gary Kelly’s charity match in 2002. Not many of the current crop would make the second eleven

Going to be controversial and say our team would beat that team Eire

Bielsa's team would run the pants of them and that would be the difference mate

    So, what was it ....

    a) A typically ****e Scottish team from a ****e league catching us having an off day, or ...
    b) ... a cracking team humping a cracking team?

I remember 2 things from that day:

    1. I was astounded how small the Celtic travelling support was. It must have only been about 10,000, but we cleared the whole east stand for them in anticipation of a much larger crowd.
    2. Celtic were an awesome team and it was humbling to watch us play them, particularly as most Leeds fans had us winning bigstyle against a '****e Scottish team'.

The view persists to this day that the Scottish game in general is ****e, just as it persisted then. Celtic proved us wrong. Wonder how current english teams would perform against the current Scottish teams? More excuses for us to make?

Unfortunately they weren't our teams, they were the banks. So what we actually have now would beat what we actually owned then.

Scary thing for me is that Celtic and Rangers now have more pull ( and possibly more cash to spend) in the transfer market than Leeds do.

Celtic have always been a banana skin for English clubs.

C-A friendly game with no bearing on who was the best.
1 off games anyone can win, remember Wigan knocking Man City out of the cup, but how would they perform in a league, would say most championship teams would win the Scottish prem.

No such thing as a friendly! Were you thrilled to watch a game where you got cuffed 4-1 by an allegedly inferior team?.

Me neither. I rest my case.

We have a history of doing badly against Celtic & Rangers.

Indeed, we even got tonked 2-0 by Partick Thistle. Says it all, really. :(

Fooked your own argument at the end, like I said friendlies mean nothing.

So you're comfortable getting tonked by allegedly crap teams, even in friendlies?

I don't know anyone else that likes crap teams beating us. You're unique, I think.

No but I wasn't playing was I, players don't want to get injured so don't play with the same intensity in friendlies or even some cup games, going by your theory Wigan are a better team than Man City <doh>, Bradford City are better than Chelsea etc etc.
