Before you say '**** this enough is enough. **** it'? Some may say i'll support them no matter what. But i.ve read on here comments about Arry Redknap and Kevin Nolan would be their breaking point. What if Shearer or Lee ****ing Clarke was appointed manager would that do it? Would conference football be an option? What if Jimmy Nail bought the club? Everyone has a breaking point
Nobody would stay away if Lee Clarke or Shearer took over and started doing a good job. If Harry Redknapp come in and took you top half, those that 'walked away' would be back with their tails tucked in. It takes much more than a bad appointment to turn your back on a club, many of our fans turned their backs on the club when the Glazer's riddled us with £800m of debt, but I'd say a large portion of them are back now, gloating about being the world's richest club. One thing that would make me turn my back and never look back is if we scrapped our youth teams.
Interesting point Tel about the youth teams. As that would mean there would be no more academy players. Basically fully bought teams for eternity. Fair point.
My old man supported Sunderland for forty-odd years, but when they sacked Ian MacColl for Alan Brown in 1968/9, he said that was it. I don't think anybody believed him - but he meant it. He died before Stokoe replaced Brown in '72, and never saw the inside of Roker Park again.
I don't give a monkey's who comes into my club, at any level. Managers, players, coaches, tea ladies, come and go. The club remains my club. Through thick and mostly thin.
It's what we stand for, this city breathes football, our kids need hope that they can play for United. Kids are already losing hope in this city, that they'll not play for Man City, they have fantastic facilities but they're hoovering up foreign talent, not giving youth a chance. I love that Lingard has replaced Memphis, I hope Memphis never gets his place back in the team because that would mean young Jesse Lingard has done a good job.
I think whoever is running the club is not bigger than the club.times will be good and times will be bad.ive been there through thick and thin for over 50 years.my support has not wained. Although of late I have not attended the games as much as I would like .i will always follow the lads till I die. Well that's just me anyway.
I've supported them since the late 50's through thick and thin but if they go down this time that will be it for me. They have had so many chances to improve things, Reidy should have been given money , and since then the amount of money wasted because of these so called directors of football and mismanagement is absolutely ridiculous. My father was about my age when he stopped going due to ill health but he told me that the club have always taken the supporters for granted, why should they have any ambition when we keep turning up every week, we are like drug addicts. I realise that things have changed now due to Sky money and the clubs don't rely on the massive support so much these days, but just imagine that magnificent stadium with about 12,000 in every weekend , it would be a disaster.
How many from your own academy? I count, Harry Kane, Tom Carroll, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend. Your club have a habit of buying other club's young talent, rather than fetching through your own top players. Then you go crying about it, maybe not you personally, but Spurs fans in general, when the likes of United come and harvest your senior talent. By this time last season, we had used 15 academy graduates in our side.
In what way mate? He was on our books as a 14 year old kid, counts as a United academy product as far as I'm concerned. He turned professional with us. Bale for example, amongst many others Spurs have picked up over the years, wasn't a product of Spurs' academy, not ever. Saints get the credit for that one.
I cant think of a scenario when I would totally give up and turn my back on my club. However season after season and as I get older my love for the club, and the game in general diminishes ever so slightly until maybe in 20 years time I'll just have a slight interest, like by merely looking at our full time scores and that's it.
We've seen it pretty bad TBH. Relegation to the 3rd tier. Roker's capacity cut to 22,000. Fire sales of players after relegation. Mick Buxton FFS Haven't stopped after everything so far, so I doubt I ever would...
I may bend but would never break ...... nothing is permanent and players, managers & owners come and go, I don't.
