Would you feel upset about a charity auction of British soldiers medals? Then how about a charity Iraqi guard medals auction? It's all about perspective and, with perspective, ballboygate was just an overblown media farce. If some good finally comes out of it, tidy !

Just catering for a small ego , nothing wrong with the cause just why not do it quietly instead of another bout of underserved publicity.

I just don't get it, I cant see why this lad's got so much shlt from my fellow Jacks.

Guys, BBgate was one of the funniest things you'll ever see in football. I laughed my cok off then and it still makes me giggle now.

    Thanks Charlie boy <ok>

So far the bids have gone to £170 for the chosen charities...happy days for the RNLI and Maggie's Cancer.

Imagine how much would the boot that kicked him would get? :)

Let the only person who has never been involved in anything worse as a teenager cast the first stone. Otherwise I maintain, good on the kid for doing something positive out of it and we all move on (unless you want to bid!)

Agree with the last couple of comments. It was funny as fook at the time, espeially with the media trying to mke out that's the only reason we beat them! the boy took enough stick and did a daft thing, he doesn't need the money so good for him to raise some money for charity <ok>

The incident itself was embarrassing, but if some good comes out of it then I'm all for that! Funniest thing about the incident itself for me was the guys a few rows in front shouting 'the bastard has just kicked our ballgirl!' ;)

BBgate was an unfortunate incident blown out of all proportion at the time by,a) the media,b) extremely angry unsporting Chelsea fans' looking for excuses to diminish their Cup exit, and c) a small number of posters on this Forum.

It is now all water under the bridge, although the Chelsea brigade are still moaning and insulting the boy, as is evidenced by article in Daily Mail. The followers of Chelsea showing their complete lack of class.

Auctioning the jacket for charity is a good result, and whoever thought of doing it deserves some credit.

I believe it's a lot worse that you can actually make a bid for Michus HAND, and it's reatively cheap. Wonder how they're going to send it!

All the publicity has made this a roaring success. The kid made £28,600 for Maggies Cancer Centre and the RNLI!

Good spot, rep (welcome to millionairres row)

By the way, the jacket sold for £28 grand!! ....I just hope the auction wasnt hijacked by idiots and the charities miss out. I suspectvall the bids were by arseholes as the auction still had 6 days to run.

They are the same people knocking his actions and by placing fake bids, are doing a lot worse than he ever did.....who knows how much it could have raised and how many lives may have been saved?

As much as I disagreed with putting it up for auction, I do feel that the auction has been hijacked. Such a shame for the charity.
