Turgid, negative football played by some seriously talented players.
Out of position, out of ideas, and has been for years.
Subs like for like, zero tactics, best attackers on the bench.
Poch and Chelsea??
Nope southgate.
Just like the FA to replace him with Potter, as seems possible.
Seriously, you couldn’t make this stuff up.

Because he gets results
S/F F Q/F
That makes him 2nd on the all time list after Ramsey.
I thought his job is to win Competitions???
He’s not done that once in how many years??
Too negative, too conservative, can’t get a tune so far out of some of the Worlds best players.
They’d have more chance winning EURO if they ignored him and played their natural games. Anyway they will get better cause they can’t get worse!! Can they win it?? Possibly, but he needs to turn the wick up.

A silly argument considering there's 1 competition every 2 years rather than 5 or 6 a season and there being over 50 entrants compared to 20 in 1 and almost 200 in the other.
'too negative, too cautious', which is pretty much how you win the big tournaments because 1 loss nearly always means you're out. That's how Italy do it, how Denmark and Greece did it, and how your most successful manager won all those trophies with a much stronger squad.
Then there's the fact the players will be playing every few days, and Southgate can't rest the best players, so low energy football is the way to keep your players fit and not be completely drained by the Q/F.

Fair enough arguments but doesn’t disguise Southgates total failure to win anything with endless examples of talented teams underperforming, including this one, playing “Southgates way”. It just doesn’t work. More vision, confidence and daring would transform things, as would playing people in correct positions and getting the balance right. Thats what good managers do. Surely he has enough “good players” in the squad to rest half the team and still win games, with Palmer and Gordon for example getting splinters on the benches while Foden is reduced to an also ran.

Foden is a bit part and Palmer getting splinters because Bellingham is the better no. 10, unless you are suggesting we play 3 no. 10s?

Personally, I can't see a reason for the hand wringing when we've pretty much qualified for the knock-out stage after 2 games.

Is that the same Foden who was PL player of the year? I’m looking for the best Team, not a group of best players. Denmark showed what the difference is. I’d put Bellingham back a bit beside Rice and play Foden in front, play the bloke with the double barrelled name in his correct position, Right back, rest Kane and play Watkins with Palmer replacing Saka and Gordon where Foden was wasted. If that doesn’t shake and wake up the Team and give even Southgate options, i’d be really wringing hands!!

England making final has not changed my opinion of Southgate one iota. He is just hopeless. Never won anything despite having among the strongest squads in every comp he has managed in. I reckon any PL manager with this squad would walk the Euros and Guardiola or Klopp would win every game by half time.
To call his subs “genius” is laughable, Kane shouldnt be starting anyway and Palmer and Gordon have been crucified by Southgates ineptitude. Foden has had a shockingly bad series thanks to Southgates positioning, and Bellingham has done little as well. Both would be tearing

England have the players to walk this final, but not the Manager. My tip, 2-1 to England after subs who should be starting do their rescue job again. Nevertheless I hope England do win and Southgate can quit as a hero, get his Knighthood, join the Media circus of ex players and managers, and improve his Golf handicap.
