so its all about to kick off again the transfer windows still open where do you think we will finish the season is it all doom and gloom out there or is there any optimism
If we don't make at least a couple of good signings we'll be going down. Can't really be sure at this point, see who we've got and where we are at the beginning of September and I might think differently but not at all optimistic at present...
I know it wasn't much in evidence at the weekend but could (and its a big could) our lack of wholesale changes actually be a good thing and provide a bit of stability. Also the fact Ollie reckons he won't be mixing it up as much might help. Probably wishful thinking. We really have to avoid making a disastrous start, a bad loss on Saturday and the pressure will be on straightaway.
I can't say I'm too optimistic ahead of the opening game. Having finished a single point above a relegation place and not so far improved the quality of the squad, can't see much to get excited about.
I have thought for some time that we have some pretty decent players in our squad but that they under-perform and, as a team, we are less than the sum of the parts. Some of those players joined us with good reputations and good records but they seem to go downhill once they join QPR; some of them later leave and do well again. There seems to be a pattern here! Who might we blame for that, I wonder? In the second half of last season, we could certainly blame the manager for our under-performance. His two record-breaking loss sequences owed much to his continual team and system changes. I am not confident that Ollie's tombola approach will change in 2017/18 and I am very concerned that the squad which narrowly avoided relegation has not been strengthened. I saw the Bournemouth game and I was not impressed by our much vaunted fitness. I am sure that, even at 64, I could still beat Smith over 100 metres. I might even win more headers (but that wouldn't take much based on last Saturday). I believe we will finish in the bottom half. Worse, if Ollie continues in lunatic mode, we will be relegated.
Would love to be optimistic and see some improvement....... Just cant for the life of me see where its going to come from....... Really fear for us this season
It quite refreshing to see such a bleak set of expectations for a change. If the players perform to their potential consistently they could do all right, but realistically it will be about how many teams are worse than us. On paper our midfield looks ok, defence and attack......hmmm. Holloway gone in November.
Head and heart are going separate ways just now. Head says we will be bottom half and realistically could be in the bottom 3. Heart says top half, challenging, at worst, for a playoff position. Not even sure that a promotion this season would be good thing overall (except for revenue) because the club would need some serious changes unless wanted to come right back back down again.
