Although I'm so very pleased that we have moved away from L1, I still find it a fascinating League. This coming season, although its lost two & a half very good teams, its shaping up to be another pretty exciting season.

I think Huddersfield have missed the boat. I think Lee might find himself out of a job by Christmas, after losing players that he will find it very difficult to replace, even with the Chairman's backing.
I think Charlton maybe the surprise contenders for promotion, already they have made some decent signings.
Of the two Sheffield clubs I reckon Wednesday will be better suited for the new campaign, it can be hard to adjust, as we well know!
Sadly, I think the cherries might have a season struggling in the bottom half.

What do you think, anyone got any surprise tips for the title?

I just look at the players Sheffield Wednesday have brought in and I think we were 10 x stronger this time last season than they are now. They aren't players who would do well in the Championship IMO.

Sheff United are still in transition of players, getting rid of the waste on high wages, expect them to pick up after Christmas.

I think Brentford will do well with Rosler and I predict them to finish in the playoffs along with Charlton and Carlisle.

I'm predicting Sheff Wed to win the league. They had a strong end and have made some great signings that suit the way Megson will play.
Not too sure about Huddersfield. They may have brought in decent players to replace the ones that have left but I think their squad looks not quite good enough to get promoted.
I agree that Brentford and Charlton could do well and have made very good signings.
Out of the relegated teams, I don't think much of Sheff Utd but Preston and Scunthorpe will be up there.

Leyton Orient are my dark horse. Russell Slade has built a good team there and they were unlucky to miss out last season.

Hudddersfield should sneak a play-off place, but as you say HR, I think they've missed the boat.

I think Wednesday will be quite dour and unattractive to watch, but will get the job done (if not automatic, then through the play-offs). Typical Megson style really.

Charlton will be there or there abouts as everyone says, but I personally think Preston will win the league.

Another year under Robinson's belt should help MK Dons, and I can see them once again finishing in the the top 6. Bournemouth on the other hand have no chance sadly, and I think would do well just to finish in the top half. I can't see Oldham, Rochdale or Orient challenging this time around either.

    Preston (P)
    Sheff Wed (P)
    Charlton
    MK Dons (P)
    Sheff Utd
    Huddersfield

Scunthorpe, Colchester and Brentford are the only other sides that I could possibly see getting a top 6 place.

im not going to say who i think will win the league as it is so hard to do these days, however i will pick my top 6 and 3 promoted:

    top 6:
    preston
    sheff wed
    huddersfield
    charlton
    sheff utd
and my team to make the top 6 that will be a surprise will be....colchester

    promoted teams:
    charlton
    sheff wed
    huddersfield

i put udders in there as they still have good forwards like rhodes, but out of my 3 promoted i think they may be dodgy - depends what they spends their sold players on (maybe £500k is to follow too?)

i think scunny will fall into midtable and have had their better years for a bit (sorry but minus adkins and laws thats it for me) sheff utd will need a season to rid of higher players and adjust - although they have a very good crop of youngsters they wont be ready yet. brentford might be thereabouts, leyton werent bad last year (cureton is always a good l1 signing IMO) but alas i too see a season of struggle for the cherries, talking to their fans they all state they will be hppy with mid table considering the players theyve sold.

i will always have heightened interest in l1 now as it shows how tough a league it is that in recent years bigger teams have struggled to get out and by getting out they nearly always have to have not only a squad to win l1 but to compete in the top of the championship - judging by how many teams do well the next year too.

So glad we are not in the mix - think it will be harder this year than last. for promotion - preston, charlton and brentford though the sheffield clubs should finish in top six.

    as a rank outsider chesterfield

I'm very glad we went up. I rekon some of our important players would have gone, forcing us to rebuild again. It looks pretty tight this season.

I reckon Charlton will do pretty well, they've made some good signings and already have proven goalscorers like BWP. Sheffield Wednesday will get automatic promotion IMO, Megson gets to mould the squad to suit his style, and they've made some good signings as well as doing pretty well toward the very end of last season. Huddersfield will be up there challenging, but I feel they'll end up in the playoffs even with quality signings like Danny Ward (would've like to have had him here tbh). Preston and Sheffield United will do ok, but not great, maybe pushing for playoffs if they get off to a good start, but otherwise not true promotion candidates. Scunny will be in the playoff mix as well, they have a decent manager and some good players. MK Dons will be everpresent in the top half, as always.

Chesterfield will do well, perhaps pushing for the playoffs, as will Leyton Orient and Brentford, the former will go strong I reckon. Stevenage will struggle I feel, much like Dagenham and Redbridge.

    1) Sheffield Wednesday
    2) Charlton
    3) Huddersfield
    4) MK Dons
    5) Scunthorpe
    6) Leyton Orient
    7) Colchester
    8) Brentford
    9) Sheffield United
    10) Preston
    11) Walsall
    12) Notts County
    13) Chesterfield
    14) Oldham
    15) Hartlepool
    16) Exeter
    17) Rochdale
    18) Bournemouth
    19) Yeovil
    20) Bury
    21) Wycombe
    22) Carlisle
    23) Stevenage
    24) Tranmere

I'm hoping Charlton, sheffield utd and wednesday all go up. 3 Massive clubs and far to big for that level, plus the first year we and charlton went down they played some brilliant football for league 1 level.
