About the Mackems semi final the night?

I want them slaughtered and yes it concerns me they may win.

Is it the most important match for me this season............ no but I will get some ****ing stick if they win. Bastards are texting me now on way down.

I'm honestly not bothered, firstly because I think they'll go out tonight but secondly because they're playing Man City in the final. City were 6-0 up but still started with Aguero and Negredo last night. City will got with their strongest team in the final meaning they have no chance.

Forget bringing a knife to a gun fight, the mackems will be showing up in the final with a bread stick.

If they faced a West Ham, Villa, Fulham or even an Everton or Spurs in the final I'd be concerned but the fact they face City means they won't win it and the runners up don't get Europe. All it's doing is adding extra games to their already long and difficult slog to avoid the drop.

I'd like them to lose, and lose heavily... I'll not hide that fact.
It's not an important match for me and I'll be out for a run around kick off anyway.
They will rightly crow if they win and progress to the final but we would be exactly the same if we were in their shoes.

Just seen this on the Premier League's website:

Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League.

basically the Mackems could beat Man Utd.... get hammered off City..... then free up a place for US to go into the Europa.... solid gold...

If the winners finish in a champions league spot (and City will) then the european place goes to the league. Same for the FA Cup. So if one of Arsenal, Chelsea or City win the FA Cup then as low as 7th could qualify for the Europa League.

I think I want the mackems through - logic being that ManU have a better chance of pulling one over on City than Sunlun do, yes? And if City win the League Cup, another place in the league enters the Europa, which is our only shot at Euro qualification.

Nope. In the FA Cup, unlike the League Cup, the RUNNERS UP qualify for the EL, unless they too are in the CL.

Ah right, so we'd need an Arsenal vs Chelsea final etc...

The problem with this is that it's a one off game and anything can happen. Wigan managed to make Man City choke on their bread stick in the FA Cup Final and I'd hate the mackems to do that cos they would rightly see themselves as having bragging rights in my book if they won a trophy. I hope they get stuffed tonight.

Aah, but your plan is flawed, we always beat City 1-0. Yes I know thats only at The SOL but, he who dares Rodney !

Man City are completely different under Pelligrini though. Under Mancini it was all about not conceding and then going forward. Under Peligrini they know they'e the best team in the league and their fire power is the best in Premier League history.

In an ideal world for us Man City will win this trophy, and having Sunderland in the final should make that easier, and what you are saying makes sense. I'd still be ****ting myself about them winning the thing though.

If Sunderland make it to the final I reckon you'd be looking at a 4/5/6-0 embarassment.

And miss all of their glum, sulking faces???

Honestly by 10pm tonight this thread may as well be deleted as it will no longer be a valid topic of conversation.

Tough call. If they get smashed tonight it will be funny. Almost as funny as the mackems who have just been on SSN <embarrassing *****ls>

It would probably be funnier to see them go all the way to Wembley spouting "its just a great day out" then watch the tears when they get mullered.

Also Man U losing tonight could be good for us. Heaps the pressure on them and Moyes and we may have a squeak of finishing above them. Plus its a boost to the mackems and in all honesty I don't want them relegated despite the hilarity. The league is better for derbies and I like the derbies. They are a NE side too.

Obviously I will find it hilarious to see them dumped out (which is likely), but I'm not really fussed either way. As we know only too well, no one remembers runners up, its meaningless. I can't see them beating Man C in the final so does it really matter? You could argue its better for us for them to reach the final.

Will be supporting the mackems tonight.

I have only a formal dislike for them in deference to our local rivalry. Man U, though, I would dearly like to fall to earth with a big bump - - about time their fans learned what being a football supporter is really like
