How can a team that's about to get promoted have so many empty seats??

High cost of seats in an area with a struggling economy. It isn't too bad in that context or in the context of 4,000 attendances just 15 or so years ago.

The away team bringing about 100 fans will leave a few thousand seats spare

Prices aren't that bad compared to other places, many of which are struggling also.
The fact is that there aren't as many dedicated fans in Hull as we imagined there would be if we got success.
Dedicated to City that is. You can bet we will sell out with locals desperate to see Stevie G and Rooney etc like last time around. The swear filter won't let me put my opinion of these scumbags. As for those who booed at the end tonight, I hope they all die of a horrible, painful disease and never darken the doors of theKC again.

I think it does look bad to have most of the empty seats in the North Stand , We should have sorted out an alternative spot for away fans by now , especially if there are only 63 of them

Good to see the coppers refusing to open the gate behind N/E stand to allow the 40 or so Bristol flaskers dawdle off to their coach in peace and inconvenience hundreds of home fans who were genuinely applauding the effort the away fans had made in attending.

    ****ers.

In my opinion the marketing around the current promotion push by the club has been really poor. Maybe I'm being the typical media type but I feel a bit more could be done to build a rousing atmosphere which it really lacked tonight.

i really feel a goal tonight would have made such a difference to the atmosphere, i know the fans should be really behind the team from the off and i don't know the answer to it, some do have a go but i am afraid there are to many who just don't open there mouths, in fact some are pathetic mice but what can you do about it, i think the answer is to spread the singers through the east stand and that would get more singing but how can you do that. May be we don't have as many fans as we thought so the Allams have spread some cardboard cut out supporters around the ground, now i know why they don't open there mouths

I think it just turns out that us posters on here aren't a true representative of the general Hull City fanbase... The Radio Humberside callers obviously come from somewhere and despite regular articles and posts on here (which you would hope were a consensus by average) about trying to support the team, nothing ever changes.

Looks like on matchday we're just surrounded by the [insert swear words] inbred, moaning, overly expectant, plastic, thick, think we're Brazil types...

I blame the ground. We used to make plenty of noise in Kempton and before that in the South Stand. We still make plenty of noise when going away.

When the ground was built thought should have been given to the acoustics. It's all very well building or planning for a symmetrical ground but atmosphere matters at football AND rugby. Football grounds still need flooring like at Fulham and a roof like at Peterborough.

I,m not sure its about accoustics. The egg chasers make more noise and can create an atmosphere with less people in the ground.

I have been trying all week to get a few ex city pass holders to go last night but they was not bothered about coming back . Reasons ranged from to expensive not been able to sit near each other and we dont score goals. The main one was not been able to sit near each other so they all went to pub to watch it . And they have not renewed or getting a pass if /when we go up.

    Empty vessels make more noise.

The sound rattles around more when there are less people to absorb the sound waves.

I hope we have more empty seats if thats the best some so called fans can do. Just sit there moaning and groaning. Whoever was booing at the end can just rooook right off and dont come back. We need true fans not plastic glory boys who whinge when things dont go quite to plan. Its another point on the total ffs. A point closer to the PL.<ok> You would have thought judgeing by some fans that we had just been relegated.

I thought you sat behind me?

Nobody who sits behind me makes any noise, other than tutting when I threaten to kill the lino.

I was astounded at the lack of atmosphere last night. The usual E1 to E3 sang at the start but rattled out all the songs back to back then seem to run out of steam. It was good to see fans further down the stand singing but the issue is when E2 doesn't get a song going there are no other fans in the ground who can start a chant. I do agree that the team needed to respond last night and that just didn't happen, if it had been the case then i think the atmosphere would of been completely different.

One thing that really wound me up last night was the absolute jerks sat in E1 who just seemed bothered about pushing their friends about and bumping into the people stood behind, i swear most of them spent more time either trying to punch their mate in the face, pushing their mates to the ground than actually contributing to the atmosphere in a positive way...grow up. Although the kids dressing up like Danny Dyer and thinking they are in the East End of London is truly hilarious!

Must say i was proud to be a city fan when we applauded the Bristol fans, just to prove we aren't a bunch of low lifes just their to kick up a fuss.

To be fair to Hull the away end was completely empty (apart from 98 of our fans)

Have to be realistic as well - economy in a bad state and people will choose a cheaper option when a game is on tv

Hull's a good club (and we have a "bond" with them stemming from our play-off game at Wembley) - next season will be a sell-out and every Bristol City fan will be rooting for The Tigers
