Newcastle defender Davide Santon admits he would 'pack his bags' if AC Milan come calling in the summer.

Santon was linked with a move back to his native Italy during the January transfer window with Milan thought to be keen on his services.

Reports have suggested Milan may rekindle their interest in the full-back this summer as they look to bolster their squad.

Santon admits he is flattered by the rumours, but says he is happy with life at Newcastle after joining in the summer of 2011 from Inter Milan with his partner due to give birth in May.

"I'm really happy in Newcastle," Santon told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I like the city, the club and the atmosphere.

"I'm also engaged to Chloe and we're expecting a baby in May. I live like a king in Newcastle and I have a contract until 2016.

"A return to Italy? At Newcastle I's a king and I have a contract until 2016. But I've heard of the interest from Milan in me and that is really pleasing because I have been a Milan fan since I was a child

"I'm not sure what would happen if another Italian club came in for me, but I'd seriously think about packing my bags for Milan."

Santon admits the presence of former Inter Milan team-mate Mario Balotelli at AC Milan would make it an even more attractive proposition to join the Rossoneri.

"Balotelli? We were still friends and I'm glad he's doing well at Milan," added Santon

I like Santon but he's far from a complete defender. If there is any truth in this, I wouldn't be that bothered provided we got a decent price and any move happened at the beginning of the window to give us time to do some shopping.

Thoughts ?

Slow news day?

It's a nothing.

The man is Italian, he's openly admitted he's an AC Milan fan and has admitted that he'd be interested in a return at some point.

Hardly controversial in my opinion.

Slow news day, and slow day on the board. Just trying to find soemthing to keep me from doing some work.

I posted this on a newer thread before I ready this one:

I think he is being disrespectful to us here. It may have been taken out of context like so many quotes are, but it seems clear what he's saying.

IMO you don't come out and say that if you're supposed to be serious about the club you play for?

On the other hand, would we hold a grudge against a player saying he would leave for Real or Barca? Milan are around that level aren't they and it would clearly be a dream move for the kid.

I don't think we can really be to hard on the lad, if Milan came in for me I'd be off like a shot. That said it's unlikely they'd want a 59 year old twat with the lung capacity of a chaffinch shuffling up and down the wing and having the odd misguided kick at the opposition playing for them.

Yes, there are times when you shouldn't publicly acknowledge a universally known truth, but these are footballers not career poiticians

Don't mind this, he still seems more than pleased to pay for us. The way I look at it if somebody asked me would you sign if newcastle came for you I wouldn't hesitate in saying yes. Doesn't mean it's happening

How about a different view on things.

Suppose you played for Bologna (or interchange with any other Italian club that isn't of the likes of Juve, Milan and Inter), and you were asked if you would like to play for Newcastle- your hometown club who you grew up supporting.

Just send them footage of his recent defensive displays. Then he'll still be with us for next season. <ok>

Hmm, nice idea Obi, I said a couple of weeks ago I think Santon will end up as Winger, lets hope he stays.
