Does anyone have an update on how these players are doing at their loan clubs? Who is playing & starting every week ? Saw a few weeks back Hammond had won the Seagulls fans over. How about the rest ?
Cant comment on the rest but my boss is a Seagulls season ticket holder and they are loving Hammond at the moment
I've been keeping an eye out for them and as far as I can see... Martin - was starting for Palace at the start of the season but apparently had a mare on several occasions and hasn't since been in the match day squad. Hammond - has been playing since his move to Brighton and has been his typical committed self and has been an experienced head in a Brighton side doing very well. Sharp - started the first couple of games for Forrest but has since come off the bench. Yet to score. Forte - being used mainly as an impact sub at Crawley. Has 1 goal to his name Barnard - Not sure whats happened to him. Was playing every game shortly after his move, but since the Pompey cup game has not even been on the subs bench. In that Pompey game he came on in the second half and missed several great chances and then missing his penalty in the shoot out. Could be injured though I'm not sure? Has 2 goals so far.
He never stops running, motivates the team on, strong in the tackle, does the simple passes that don't get noticed, good football brain, chips in with a few goals. If it wasn't for JWP then he would be first team at the moment.
It's strange if there is a player to be criticised, you are always first in the queue, is it some kind of OCD?
Barnard is injured at the moment, not too sure how serious but radio solent mentioned it the other day on their coverage.
Doe anyone remember how long his loan period was for ? I seem to think it was only for a couple of months.
Till January In regards to Martin, it's a shame as it appears he's been made a scapegoat for their poor start - I'd prefer to recall him and use him here as backup, or send him out on loan where he will actually play
A chicken never stops running when you cut its head off, but you don't see any headless chickens playing football... Hammond is slow and boring, he rarely gets a good tackle in and he picks up so many yellow cards, he passes the ball backwards and sideways. He isn't that good, that's why he is playing at Brighton.
Really like Hammond...but was already showing signs of falling below our standard last season. We've moved on. He'd still be with us if we had stayed in the Championship. Not being good enough for the PL doesn't make him a bad player...wish him all the best. Always remember his goal v Leeds and his expletive live on TV when we got promoted.
Hammond was a very good signing for Saints and his efforts in the midfield helped us to many wins and hard fought draws. I think that the vast majority of Saints fans appreciated Deano. However as has been said above the team has to keep evolving when moving into the top division and it was a good move for Deano to go back to his old stomping ground on loan. Brighton are top of the table and i bet Deano has been a major reason for this. Best of luck to the lad. Sorry to hear that Aaron Martin is struggling at C. Palace - i hope that he comes good but could go either way with him i feel. He had a couple of decent games for Saints.
Martin hasn't been developed greatly if I'm honest-he goes from the Conference to League One (skipping League Two), where he only played a few games, somehow plays more games in the Championship than he did in League One, where he had never established himself and showed no signs of improvement in the Championship to that of when in League One. Now, he's been loaned to the Championship when he hasn't even proved he could cut it in League One?
Really can't see that happening. He was given the chance at Palace apparently poor defending. (according to Palace Forum ) Shame as it was mean't to benefit him but has has gone backwards. Perhaps he should go to a league 1 team ? If he came back to Saints where would he fit in with the 4 CB's we have now ?
