Never been a fan of this team and particularly since the russky took over and sent the transfer fees and salaries out he window. However they did look like a team of destiny today even if they should have lost by a shed load but full marks they never quit and went on to win the ultimate european club prize.

I should be happy that an English team won the cup but what I enjoyed even more was seeing the arrogant players for Bayern grinning smugly amonst themselves when they scored towards the end of the game only to have their sausages rammed firmly where the sun don't shine. Their smugness got even more detestable when Neuer scored his penalty and they took a seemingly insurmountable lead in the penalty shoot-out only to have another sausage come up and take the final wind out of their sails.

It reminded of when Man Utd did the same thing to them a few years back, absolutely lovely stuff. Priceless!

On a sour note, at the end of the commentary here in Canada a know nothing North American supposed pundit called the Chelsea manager by the name of Vicente di Matteo, so obviously Abramovich has already hired his new manger.

Anybody think the real Matteo will get the job permanently?
 
I think that he deserves it. But Chelsea have been chasing Pep Guadeloa (it's late so don't pick me up on spelling Bluebaldie) for ages, so who knows, not a fan either but would like to see Di Matteo get it.
 
Pep Guardiola red! Matteo should be automativ IMHO but I think Roman has other ideas. Thanks for the Champions League Cup Roberto now piss off. Certainly Roman and I will go to Liverpool and kick your commy backside next year, or something to that effect.
 
He should be given a 1 year rolling contract, If he brings success to the club next season, then sign him up on a longer contract, if not, they havent got to pay out loads of money for the rest of his contract
 
Well if Chelsea do not want Roberto di Matteo, and I was the owner of Liverpool, I would sign him up straight away.
Chelsea were obviously not the most talented and attractive to watch team in the Champions league, but di Matteo's tactical nous has been second to none. He won Europe's biggest club trophy by saying to other teams "come and attack us but we'll defend en masse and we have a real sting when you give us any space to get in your box"
I am not a Chelsea lover but he has proved himself a master tactician and man manager!
 
What I think is disgraceful is that the Bayern manager revealed in
an interview that he couldn't get his players to 'volunteer' to take
the penalties! For that alone they deserved to lose.
