What a prick Peter Houston is.

As Scotland assistant manager he was fully aware of the fact that Scott Brown was carrying an ankle injury yet he clearly sent out his players yesterday to kick and swipe at his ankle at every opportunity.

Not only could it have led to injury and a long term lay-off which would have a direct impact on Celtic but it could have led to him missing vital Scotland qualifiers in September.

The referee didn't help much either as he allowed several tackles to go with no more punishment than a free-kick for United players who had previously been yellow carded.

It's testament to the toughness and commitment of Scott Brown that he managed to come through the game unscathed.

It's blatantly obvious what Houston's tactics were but nothing will be done because nothing can be proven.

Never liked the **** anyway.

There's your reason for it right there

It's no coincidence that Scotland played better on Wednesday against Denmark once Brown was off

After 15 minutes?

How do you know Scotland would not have played even better if Broon had stayed on?

Dundee Utd's tactics were certainly nasty and brutal at times and I agree that the referee was very poor in letting them away with so much. However, it was great to see the 5-goal hiding they got despite their attempts to deliberately injure players! Maybe this will make them rethink those tactics.... I certainly hope so and I think Celtic would be perfectly justified in making a complaint about the referee's handling of the game!

Cos I've had the misfortune of watching him for years, he brings nothing to Celtic's team and brings nothing to the Scotland team. He's a CM, at club level Ki, Ledley and Kayal are all better than him so 4th best at his club. At International level Fletcher and Adam are streets ahead of him so if these 2 are fit there's no place for him in a 4 man midfield. In a 5 man midfield he MIGHT get a game but there's up and coming players ready to take his place

He's nothing more than a headless chicken and an accident waiting to happen, he's a passenger in games and not happy unless he's going around flying into tackles

Think thats a bit harsh un1982, Agree at times you wonder what he is thinking, but i have to say when he is on the Celtic team [right midfield] we seem to look more balanced. When he is missing from there, even if he is playing more central, we can struggle. Cant really comment on Scotland games as i dont see them. Bit of an enigma our Broony, but better judges than us decide he is on the pitch.

I disagree, so do Gordon Strachan, Tony Mowbray, Walter Smith, Alex McLeish and Craig Levein.

I suspect you are simply repeating all the criticisms that fans have levelled at him previously. He's "an accident waiting to happen"? When are we going to see this "accident" and what will it be exactly?

He's a bit mad but he's not been sent off (except harshly) or totally lost it in any games I recall.

In the past Scotland didn't have other options in midfield but now we have Adam who was one of the best players in the EPL last season and also have players like Barry Bannan and James McArthur coming through. Brown has had his chance for Scotland and what has he done? Nothing

Bannen was out on loan at Leeds last season, McCarthur could not lace Broon's boots.

Broon is captain of Celtic, why?

**** knows, cos there's nobody else to give it to? Brown isn't a leader, Celtic haven't had a leader on the pitch since Neil Lennon

Lets look at it this way, Celtic have 5 midfielders who could be considered to be first picks. Kayal, Ki, Ledley, Commons and Brown. Only 4 can play so who needs to miss out? It would be Brown everytime

So for you who would miss out?

Neil Lennon hasn't had the choice of all 5 for a lot of the time. Commons didn't join til January, Ki was away in the Asia cup thing and then didn't play much when he got back, Brown was injured for some of last season. Even this season Brown was suspended the first 2 games and now Kayal is injured. There's never been a long run of games when he's had all 5 to choose from so his decisions have been made for him with whos available

1882.
I am sorry you are either on the wind-up or else you know nothing about football. As Dev Advocate says, and he has often proved himself to be a wise old man, at least 5 professional managers all of them were various amounts of success all choose Scot Brown.
It must be terrible to be so ignorant of what is basically a simple game.

Scott Brown is a first choice pick for Scotland (and Celtic). Every manager he has played under regarded him as a first choice pick. People with very, very different ideas and tactics (Smith v Mowbray anyone <laugh>). His fellow professionals have voted him POTY (in 2009). FIFA put him on their 'ones to watch' list in 2009.

Yet Rangers fans know better than all of them and he's actually ****e <laugh>

Call me old fashioned but if I picked a captain he would be the first name on my teamsheet every week. That's why Lenny kept him as captain.

Anyway, Ki had a few good performances last season and was dropped to the bench when Broon returned from injury. That sort of blows a hole in your ideas.

as does this:

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that he is keen to tie Scott Brown down to a new contract, with the midfielder’s best years still to come.

He’s taken on the added responsibility of being captain and he’s matured into that role very well,” Lennon added. “His consistency last season was excellent. “Considering he’s only 25, you have to wonder how much better is he going to get.

“He’s not even at his peak and I think his best years are still to come"

http://sport.stv.tv/football/scotti...wants-scott-browns-best-years-to-be-at-celtic.

But i'm sure you have a better eye for a player than the 6 or so I named who had him as a first choice pick for Celtic or Scotland.

Barry Bannan <laugh>

Brown has been immense the last few seasons.

Being captain and having him on the right has bought the best out of him
