Our team soon fly off to the sun Like swallows, when winter has come, Its rays on their backs Will help them relax In readiness for their home run But sometimes plans that are best laid Backfire almost before they´re made, And holiday breaks Against such high stakes Might just make them wish they had stayed No time to put heads in the sand Hard work every minute they stand, Or else quite for free A trip to the sea They could have done in our own land I remember Stringer would teach A run or two on Yarmouth beach, Good enough those days To refresh our plays When new peaks they wanted to reach But if Abu Dhabí´s the place To rejuvenate this year´s race, Then let it be so That they´re raring to go When once again Colney they grace. This is what I really can't get my head around, 'warm weather training' ? WTF is all that about ? It's nothing but an undeserved holiday in the Sun. The players will all have a jolly kicking a ball around in the warm sunshine only to come back to play Leicester in the freezing cold, good preparation that
, Yep, ´fraid I´ve never quite understood the benefits of an all-expenses-paid holiday, in mid -season, either KIO - but then again , there´s probably a lot we don´t understand, which to some, makes perfect sense.
An awful lot of athletes, tennis players and so on, opt for warm weather training because it takes less time for the muscles to warm up, overdoing it in cold weather leads to muscle injuries! The very last thing we need right now is unnecessary injuries to our first team squad!
It could be an incentive to remain in the PL. Lose that status and it becomes a week in Weston-super-Mare LOL.
because warm weather training has demonstrable benefits on fitness levels especially if people are training for an event in the cold weather- studies tend to show a 5-10% improvement in various indices of cardiovascular performance and endurance/speed etc
Thanks Dave, and Home on the Range, I´m quite prepared to go along with it if it´s been scientifically proven to work, just never seen much evidence of it in the flesh. In fact, they could go and camp up on the North Pole for a couple of nights, as far as I´m concerned, if it meant that they would come back and beat Leicester.
