Golden Delicious
One to note over 7-8f on anything softer than good, softer the better.
This 3yo filly made her debut in Oct on soft going and won going away by nearly 4l, clearly loving the ground.
5l 3rd in that race was Qushchi who followed up at Newmarket beating Choral, Joviality and Field of Miracles. Choral won on reappearance on the AW. Joviality was second on reappearance before beating Barefoot Lady,(who was a creditable 3rd of 12 in the Coronation Stakes) and then ran Timepiece to just over 2l in the Falmouth Stakes yesterday. Field of Miracles also won on the AW on reappearance before running 2nd to Zain Al Boldan in the Oaks trial.
Meanhile Golden Delicious flopped on her second outing at 2, finishing 12th of 14 on good to soft. On reappearance she was last of 11 on good to firm beaten 58l and then ran 9th of 11 over 10f on good (beaten over 14l), racing keenly and weakening final furlong.
This is a daughter of top-class sprinter, Cadeaux Genereux excellent source of high-class 2yos, whose progeny usually progress well. I remember Cadeaux Genereux as a mud lover and this filly hosed up over 7f in the soft last October.
She was only carrying 8.2, with a 5lb claimer today but to win over 7f on good going in the only race of the day faster than standard was something of an achievement, particularly in view of this race comment:
"In rear and soon pushed along, took keen hold 3f out, switched right and headway from 2f out, driven to lead inside final furlong, ran on well closing stages" won just over 2l.
Provided the handicapper doesn't hit her too hard, she should have no trouble in winning again, particularly if the ground comes up soft.
