Most people probably start a new season full of hope for what might be, I try to remember, and temper this with the Chinese (I think) proverb. "Hope is undiscovered disappointment"
grumpygit Can I make a suggestion ? - do what Tim does - forget about hope - go straight to 'despair'. Apparently he can handle that ! -- but, from his northern outpost he doesn't get the chance to experience as much hope, ( sorry, I meant to say undiscovered disappointment ), as the rest of us. On a more serious note - in life, if I can detach or avoid emotional attachment to anything, I can usually be indifferent. It allows me to be uncaring for anything that doesn't interest me. I don't have to waste time 'hoping', and do not have to suffer disappointment.......... I hope you have a pleasant weekend.
