just throwing this out there to see how many of us show our colours when we're away. this is me and the missus in fuerteventura recently.
My 1970's shirt goes most places with me, and usually gets an airing. Coincidentally, I was a rep in Fuerteventura about 10 years ago (i was exiled watching the playoff final against Cardiff), and whenever i wore my colours would always get someone shout 'You R's!' or 'Come on you SOOOOOOOOPPPPPAAAAAAA!' Hope you found the Harley Davidson bar Inked up!
Shouldn't really post this here....but I went to New York last year and was wearing my Barca shirt, you know the one with Hughes on the back, have bleated about it many times. Queuing up at the Metropoliton Museum of Art and one of the stewards comes up to me and tells me to go and queue in a different queue. I get to the front of that queue and the ticket seller goes excitedly mad, greats me as along lost friend, gives me free entry (for me and my family on his personal account.....and that is ALOT of money...gets me a catalogue too). It appears he is from Barcelona and thinks himself NY greatest Barca fan. The whole day I was greated by everyone as this guys mate, everyone was so nice and the whole day did not cost us a penny.....I am afraid I never admitted I was a RRRs fan. And only wore my hooped shirt when I was on the other side of NY
Im wearing blue and white hoops where ever i go but sometimes i have to wear black and white colours. Mostly in the weddings and funerals......
I'll be wearing mine with pride when it arrives from the club shop I hope this week when I fly to Turkey in July
rich, no I wasn't in that bar unfortunately! we usually went to pieros and hemmingways. where abouts was the Harley bar? the trike was part of a tour called cool runnings. it was brilliant! they're only 1600cc engines but still go like the clappers!
Ahhhh! Piero's! The memories! no doubt he is still doing his Aladin show? "50-50! Pro-fesh-in-AL!" The Harley bar is actually a way out of town - "The Harley Davison Motorcycle club of Fuerteventura" - if you took a trip down to Jandia on "FV-1" you go past it on the left hand side - it's about 20-30mins ride from Caleta. We used to sell the 'Beep Jeep Safari' and that was good fun getting off road and getting filthy dirty!
we didn't see an Aladdin show, a robbie Williams tribute act which was rubbish and "Kev" a drag act which was hilarious! we found it weird that everywhere emptied at around midnight even though the bars are open until 3. there was no-where to go to that we could find. Hemingways was hit and miss. good 1 night **** the next. all in all I'd definitely go bac. it's a brilliant resort.
Piero is probably getting a bit to old for all that now! Caleta is a family resort so it has always being a bit quite. Piero opened a nightclub once, which was alway DEAD; it closed within 3months. I love the Fuerteventura - the beaches are amazing - if you ever go back let me know and i'll tip you off on the best spots around the island.
