http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23450297 Championship side QPR had a bid accepted for Hooper but he has opted for the top flight with City instead. Hooper scored 31 goals for the Scottish champions last season, having joined from Scunthorpe in 2010 for £2.4m. Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Celtic striker Gary Hooper for a fee thought to be around £5m. The 25-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the Premier League club, who have the option of keeping him for a further year. He has been Celtic's leading goalscorer for the last three seasons. Celtic manager Neil Lennon described Hooper as the club's best striker since Henrik Larsson and said his departure was a "huge loss". Norwich manager Chris Hughton, who first tried to sign Hooper in January, has now signed seven players this summer. "There's been a lot of speculation going back to January and I'm pleased to have finally put pen to paper and joined Norwich," Hooper told Norwich's official website. "I knew Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood from my youth days at Spurs so it will be great to be back working with them. "I have scored goals at every level I have played at and the challenge of playing in the Premier League is really exciting to me
Yes, fair enough. Hooper have now his chance with the big boys and i think he uses it. I have wanted him to come QPR since he left Scunthorpe but it didn't match this time either. So congratulation Norwich you got yourself a good goalscorer. Now you better stay up because 25 million you have spent in a short time could come and haunt you with those increased wages of new players.
That's funny! A QPR fan warning about the dangers of spending money! The 8.5 million for Wolfswinkel came from last seasons budget. We are debt free and have the minimum of 70 million coming in this year. Hooper himself has said he turned down more money from QPR to play in the prem, so I suggest you should be more concerned with your clubs finances.
We know it from experience mate. You have always said you are little moderate club who dont spend big. Now it seems to be changed because you want some success too. 17 or 25 million well its lot of money anyway and i believe that Hooper was not your last signing for the future season. Nothing wrong with that but theres always a danger if you should fail and go down. We did just that during our misereable time in the premier league. The only differerence is that Delia has not such money to survive as Fernandes and Mittal.
There is always that risk but we owe no money and are being run sustainably by people who care about the club. If we were to go down, and I really cant see past the 3 that came up for those spots, then with the extra payments now the wages should be ok. Hooper is said to have turned down 40k a week from QPR to 30k with us. Putting aside the ridiculous amount of money that is to earn in a week its not that high for a PL player and probably only a bit more than what Holt was on.
Without any knowledge im sure Hooper will have more than 30K in Norwich. Players nowadays talks just what the fans want to listen. Hooper was the perfect example of it.
we will stay up. I have us down for a top ten finish, with our increased firepower of van wolfswinkel and now hooper, which is what we were lacking before
