Good news on the Hooper front according to CH, 20 mins or so ago...... http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/hooper-injury-12-aug-13-988417.aspx
Very well RBF. We already have more points on the board this season than we did at the end of last September. I'd love to see either Ipswich or Norwich relegated this season!
I think Hooper will be on the subs, CH might not want to risk playing him as a precaution. But it's good news it's nothing serious, having Bassong back is also another boost.
It will probably depend on the extent of the bruising, but good news all the same. I'm sure Tina will be delighted that Hoops is likely to be smiling again!
With Hooper fine and Bass getting some game time is Pilkington now our only injury? I hope he has more luck with it this season.
Essentially. I thought it was odd that Trappatoni said he'd told Pilkington to stop using injections. That's not good news. I'm no doctor, but I'd say that suggests Pilks should take a month or two out to do some proper conditioning, be patient and not rush back. It's quite clear that Pilkington is of the sort of temperament where they just love playing football and will play injured if they can. Great attitude, but can hurt himself. Perhaps even aim for a November return - with Redmond looking sharp and Olsson at back up we have cover there to carry him injured and get him properly fit. I'd rather have a fully fit Pilks for half the season wihtout a break than him coming and playing a match or two, then having a couple off like last season.
Totally agree!! It's possible that in the games where 'he went missing' last season, he wasn't fully fit and CH didn't really have much in the way of options. Now we've got NR and from what I saw of him on Saturday, he has the potential to become an excellent player for us.
If I was Pilks I'd be terrified about missing too long, could come back to find he's lost his place and really struggle to take it back.
Great news was sitting right in line with that and he took quite a whack so pleased he is ok Hi Mikey four years ago you stuffed us, that was the peak of your history and the lowest point of ours , how things have changed since that fateful day
I'm sure that's what he might think (in fact, you're probably right that is what he thinks), but then again you could argue he's got a better chance of holding that first team place long term if he is fully fit. At the moment he is undoubtedly the senior left winger and that will not change over the next three months. Redmond is also too young to play a full season there and will have a dip in form, so Pilks will always get the opportunity.
Redmond will be fantastic and frustrating in equal measure this season I think we all know that, it s the presence of him and Olssen that would concern me, he has the pace and delivery to be and excellent winger. Pilkington's advantage is definitely his 2-footedness but could just get left behind by the team if he's out for too long.
However frustrating it might be for him and us, Pilks needs to get his knee right even if it takes a month or two. Continual injecting before games is very ill-advised in the long run. By all accounts, Olssen & Redmond are more than adequate cover.
