Hello, I study sports management and football studies and am in my final year at university. I am currently doing my final assignment and could do with some assistance. My question is; To what extent is hooliganism a problem for football clubs based in London. It would be very appreciative if you could take a few minutes to fill in my questionnaire to aid my research. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SNV9WFL Thanks.
I started to answer but then wasn't sure if I could be of use. I wouldn't really class sexist or racist behavior as 'traditional hooliganism' and as such can't really claim to have witnessed anything (being born probably too early in 1990). But in answer to the last question I would have said something along the lines of 'No' and have cited the changing face of 'misbehaviour' at football - ie the culture of meeting up for a fight seems to be dead (possibly because of things like New Labour and Coldplay and Mumfords) and replaced by casual racism and verbal abuse borne out of ignorance and a failure to integrate a Multicultural society properly. New Labour were actually a bit **** eh?
Done, on numbers involved there was no 20+ box to tick so I just ticked 16-20 When the Spammers came down for a Milk Cup/Fizzy Pop Cup game in the early 80's it all kicked off big time, I think it was a training exercise by the ICF as they were mostly teenagers involved being directed by some older guys.
Cheers guys I know there is a little problem with the group numbers it changed it automatically but can't fix it now. Its also fairly interesting to see responce levels from this forum. Charlton, Tottenham and QPR have been the most responcive. And thats for Arsenal.... My thread lasted about 5 minutes on their page before it was taken down, and there has been a bit of activity on some of the threads.
