Its a shame but no surprise. Did I hear somewhere that it was because he wanted an extra year on his contract and we weren't prepared to give it to him? I'm sure PL wanting him has had a part to play, plus not a regular in our side. Good on the board for sticking to their promise and not letting players leave that they wish to keep. It is quite a while since we sold a player we wanted to keep, unless you think that of the Holt situation.
Maybe Hughton should actually give him some game time! The fact he has barely been involved over the Festive period has been very disappointing and I don't blame him for wanting to leave. Far too good a player to be sitting on our bench.
Well done the club, not usually a good idea to keep a player against his wishes, but in this particular case I´m glad we are, at the moment, especially as we know where he would end up. That was the whole reason for taking Holt, to use him as bait for Wes.
Not sure about his contract details and I'd like to see him get more then a couple of cameo appearances.
The problem I have with Wes is that for every good performance you get 5 or 6 where he doesn't turn up! Some pillocks on twitter saying how many more of our players are disillusioned by CH's man-management! I think a more pertinent question is how many more players have had there head turned by a "tapping up" by Lamb Chop!
Lambert pathetic narrow minded , rebuild his Championsip team at Villa see he has Betrand as well, Landsbury and Forster next with Tierney doing cartwheels So he is clever and could move on to a bigger club? one dimensional glad he went obviously desperate to try and rekindle his old luck, hard luck mate you not at Norwich anymore! oh and when you have found the money from your big club to pay for Steer come back and make an offer
Hmm if he is unhappy why keep him if we can get a fair price? He's barely featured this season That said, I dont want him at villa
If Wes was to leave and we didn't replace him I would worry. I think he's deserved more playing time than he has had, and I also think he is the only advanced midfielder we have who would look to feed RVW or Hooper with the service they should get.
Wes definitely has on and off days but this season I feel he has performed pretty well when given the chance but he never gets a run in the team.
In my opinion we still play our best football when he's in the team, brings the best out of other players and always looking to turn and get moving forward. We've got nothing like him, real shame he is so criminally under rated by CH. I'd take him giving the ball away in the opponents half trying to make things happen over johnson hoofing the ball over the top for throw ins and goal kicks any day. (Just making a comparison I know johnson offers other factors before people jump on me)
Completely agree, how many times have our wingers lost the ball putting the same crosses in all through the game. Rather Wes lost it trying to do something different than Snodgrass putting in a unsuccessful cross to RVW or Hooper for the 1089482th time that game.
I bet they both will score if they play against us. Sod's law! We won't keep a player who wants to go....
"The problem I have with Wes is that for every good performance you get 5 or 6 where he doesn't turn up!" Yeah, because he doesn't get picked
Wes has been good for us but can be both brilliant and frustrating. Sell him and get in Holtby from Spurs.
Now that I would agree to, however he is well out of our range. Plus he's not a winger, so we wouldn't be interested.
