Michael Appleton's home debut on Saturday. Louis Mendez hosts Charlton Live tonight at 7pm. I find You-Tube the best way to pick it up, and you can re-unite with our old friend AllHellLetLoose, who is a regular devotee. Let's hope Appleton can get rid of the defensive howlers, and improve our fitness. I'm looking forward to seeing May and Leaburn up front with Chuks to come on after an hour or so.
Let's hope the team with May & Leaburn back in, can give a good account of itself. We might still lose. But fans know the difference between a defeat when you've played your best, and a defeat due to playing crap.
We have played some nice football at times this season, although there were swathes of rubbish (Peterboro away and Stevenage away being particularly dire). The problem has been some catastrophic mistakes at the back which mean we always need a lot of goals to take any points. Looking forward to seeing May back in the team, and Chuks in the second half - I think I'll go and have a lie down......
For the first time this season Charlton get a victory against a team we would be considering top 6 rivals - assuming Charlton were going to be anywhere near the top 6. Happy for the fans who went to the Valley today A three game unbeaten run (as the website will doubtless remind us all). Have we turned a corner?
Deserved win, CBT's fine goal capped a solid performance. Appleton's bold selection paid off, and we played a lot of decent football through midfield instead of just giving the ball to CBT and hoping something would happen.
To be honest, a very good start to the Appleton reign. Two awkward fixtures and four points. To be fair, Appleton has a bench with useful players on it, whild Holden was literally down to blooding young players on a weekly basis. But while we were second best for quite a bit of the second half on saturday, we dug in and earned a win. May looks like a great signing, in spite of his elf-like stature, CBT is frightening defences, and just needs a bit of composure, and the last minute loan signings are all looking useful even if they aren't quite up to the level of Gallagher.
