Following on today's article regarding people's right to defend your home, what weapon would you use? Do you have a particular favourite already set aside for the task should it be needed? If not, is there something you can think of now that would do the job? Or would you hide under the duvet and quietly ring the police?
I'd employ a fat guy that looks like Phil Mitchell to come and sit on them until they died/the police arrived

ball peen hammer, lives on the bookshelf next to the bedroom door. will hurt like **** but less chance of an assault with a deadly weapon charge
my choice of weapon is the same length as a sledgehammer but has a slightly smaller hammerhead. gives great swinging momentum

6lb sledgehammer for me. I wouldn't swing it full pelt or aim for the head, because I reckon it would kill.
Got a superb 8lb masonary hammer I bought a couple years back when i was doing some landscaping work in the garden. Got a lovely feel to it. The thieving/raping cant wont know what hit him......
I've got an ice axe in my wardrobe. Sharp and serrated at one end and, well an axe at the other. Come into my house uninvited and go near my kids and it will puncture you many times. It's ready.
