Just tweeted Grant holt ‏@Grantholt31 Girls last day at old hall school today. They made some good friend. But off to new adventures #carlisle.
Well we know he recently bought a house up there, has the majority of his family up there, and takes frequent trips to Carlisle. I personally can't see the logic in moving everyone up there, but obviously we don't know the full story. Perhaps a family member is ill and needs support from Ms Holty?
I'd just like to add this comment - not totally sure if it'd relevant!!!! I'm reasonably sure that GH only brought his family down last summer and his goal scoring record has certainly diminished since - could there be a connection??????
He's just tweeted this in response to the one Dave posted: For all tweeting me the family is moving home for school reasons not me people. #familycomesfirst
He did say recently that he'd bought a house in Carlisle, and for everyone to stay calm, but this latest tweet insinuates that he's taking his girls out of a local school and placing them in a Carlisle school! Edit: just seen Dazz's post
This might make me sound selfish, but I do worry this will affect his form and mentality. Travelling for training and games and then back again, or when he stays at Norwich while his family are in Carlisle will be a distraction. But of course, like Holt said, family comes first.
School reasons? I'm assuming "Old Hall School" means the one in Hethersett, which of the people I know that went there, seemed pretty reasonable. Perhaps his kids get too much attention/scrutiny because of their father, and the fact nearly everyone who goes and cares about football will be a Norwich fan? Gunny's daughter seemed to do ok, but I suppose she was probably older when her old man was back in the spotlight.
I understand this tbh. Holty has made no secret that he wants to move back to Carlisle when his playing days are finished and he said that he wants to retire after playing for Norwich, hence the bartering for a 3 year deal in the summer. His kids are getting towards secondary school age and he wants them to be settled at a school where he will live in the future, his home town. Good luck to them I say.
As has been said he commuted back and forth from Carlisle during his first two seasons with us and didn't do too badly
Yes, I have 2 kids thanks for asking. That is how it works for some people, like me. Holty is from Carlisle, all his family live there and he has lived in norwich for around a year. No big ties to the city really.
I know how much my daughter relies on her Mum to help look after her 2 children and as has been said, all his immediate family are up in and around Carlisle, so I guess he's moving the family back for a number of reasons.
Honestly I think this is the beginning of the end. Starting to get the family settled up north, and would not be surprised if during the summer he makes the move. Not bitter about that, but will be sad to see him go.
I agree, Pablo. He's doing what he has always done, and put his family first. The thing we all love about Holt, is that he is just like us. He's planning for his young family's future, and I would not be at all surprised if he's playing for Carlisle next season, or the season after, and moving into coaching up there. Equally, when Dublin played for us those last couple of years, he trained in Leicester most of the week, and came over to Norwich for the day before the match. If Holt see out his contract with us, perhaps he'll do the same. He'll not let us down, as long as he's employed by the club.
