According to Sky Sports News Grant Holt is to hold talks with Chris Hughton when Hughton returns from holiday before deciding his future. One piece of positive news is Peter Lovenkrands was on his way out of Newcastle and on the verge of joining another club before Hughton persuaded him to stay, so hopefully he can do the same to Holt and persuade him to stay at Norwich.
That would be good. I'm not one of these people that have the opinion of "oh well good riddance" I would love it if he stays. No one really know's 100% what has happened and what has been said. Lifes all about second chances and forgiveness and if anyone deserves it, it's him.
I am certainly not against him staying, but he has to want to.Whether a substantial pay rise will do the trick I don't know.We have to compete with what he can get elsewhere.
I don't say "good riddance" at all, what I do say is; "if you don't want to play for NCFC Grant, then Piss Off !"
Not sure exactly how I feel about this bit of news tbh. Really caught in two minds (as it appears Holty is too), the only thing I am sure about is that I will be happy when he either stays or departs so we can start to prepare for battle in August.
Just needs sorting one way or another so he and the club can move on. I hope he stays, but if he doesn't resolve his differences with Hughton, sell him for max cash and get a quality replacement in as soon as. Can't let it drag on too much longer so here's hoping that once Hughton has unpacked his Bermudas and sandals he gets round the table with Holty (and not his fcuk-wit agent) and gets it sorted.
well my first choice is and always has been that he sacks his agent and stays, and starts next season like he ended last season so that we can all forget about what has gone on. doubt it'll happen though...
I can see why people say let him go. I felt a bit hurt too when the news came out...after the initial shock. But he has been our outstanding and most committed player for 3 years, he has been our leader. He deserves to be our highest earner if you look at the stats, the facts and the way the whole stadium gets lifted whenever he enters the game. If that's the issue, give him what he has earned. If it's that he was offered 2 years instead of 3, then I don't see the problem. He isn't a striker that all his attributes are based on pace. If he loses a few yards, hes a strong, bulky target man who competes in the air. He can be used as a target man from the bench in the 3rd year and still get us goals. I really hope he stays and wants to compete to be among our highest scoring players and appearances.
Sacking agent would certainly bring him right back on side with the fans. Would still love him to stay but if he wants to leave we need good money for him. Certainly still a way back for him, think I saw somewhere CH is back in the next day or 2 so will hopefully be sorted sooner or later
