Take another look at Morrisons goal yesterday. Another thunderbolt header, and he had a great game btw, but he KIND of poached it from Holty, who even swung his leg in anticipation.

They were a great partnership yesterday and played some amazing stuff I'm hoping i'm seeing the embers of a friendly rivalry of who can score more, ths could be a HUGE help to us this season

    OTBC, what a game yesterday!

I'm sure PL only paired them together on the proviso that he wanted us to 'bully' the makeshift Toon defence. Odd, then, to have gone with Surman rather than Pilks or Bennett, both of whom can play much wider and are therefore better at getting crosses in for Holt and Morison to profit from.

I'll be surprised if we don't start with Morison up top with Hoolers just behind next Saturday, just to bulk up the midfield initially.

I agree theres a rivalry there. Morison does come across as a cold fish at times where Holt is heart on his sleeve. Maybe they can strike up a partnership (no pun intended) but I would hate to see them going for the same ball too many times. A few times yesterday, they ran into the same areas. I think PL needs to define their roles. Morison is big and strong and deceptive but he finds it hard to pass to a team mate accurately whereas Holt is very good at playing team mates in.
    Nice problem to have though.

Agreed about surman. Was it more because we played the diamond though and lacked width. Pilks to play for me against everton but keep holt in the team

I don't think that he poached it necessarily, Holt had almost over run the ball and was swinging behind him I think the ball was intended for Morison as holt had drawn the defence forward leaving space behind for Morison.

nice positio9n to have two natural goalscorers in the squad. both now have 6 goals, if my memory is not playing tricks, the last time in the premiership leroy lita was our top scorer with 7 goals for the WHOLE season. much, much healthier position this time round.

I think Ashton was probably our top scorer. Without him we would have been humiliated in a record breaking way!
