Given the poor relationship that existed between Holt and Calderwood when they were both at Forest does Calderwood's arrival as Hughton's number 2 make to more likely that Holt will be sold on?
Think it was almost a certainty anyway, McNally was making the point that he was contracted so don't expect to get him on the cheap... Im sure Hughton has already got a replacement on his mind...but time will tell.. Although i like Rhodes, i think you're looking at £10 million for him which we won't entertain..
Yes. However, if the request was purely to do with money and length of contract and Holt doesnt want to leave Norwich then the two may be able to work together. No doubt Hughton would be able to help resolve their issues as he is the manager. But if Holt never had handed in the request then I feel things between the two would have been far easier to resolve.
At the end of the day it was a fair bit of time ago AND they are both professionals so they ought to be able to work together perfectly well. As i've said before I have worked with all manner of people some of whom I have absolutely detested but I still worked with them and in a civil manner because I am a professional person and I try to leave my personal feelings at the door on the way in, same as I leave my work issues at the door on the way out. Life's too short....
That's what you do in life. You grit your teeth and get on with it. I know too many people who prefer to have an argument which just makes things worse.
Exactly and I'd like to say my annual wage is about what Holt gets a week, so he can shut up and get on with it
I still think its money oriented and if Macca caved in then Holt would work with the Taleban. But as I don't think there will any relenting I think we would want to move him on as much as he wants to leave.
Sorry to jump over here, but completely agree with the above. I said on a thread on our board that after he twitted Norwich should look to get rid of him, and I recon Lambert would be happy to take him up at Villa. Hope you guys get a good fee for him and get a good replacement in - and enough to improve a bit of your squad. Looking forward to watching you guys against us next year. Hopefully we won't be as generous! Still can't believe they took Carrol over Holt as the big man center forward though
Much though he is a hero to me, I do think he won't be as successful next year as he was this. Can't see how he can keep his passion for the club or the game if he seriously wants out like his tweets suggest. He strikes me as someone who needs that passion and commitment to be at his best. Beginning to think we should cash in whilst we can, his value will fall if he doesn't play much
He'll be off - I can't see him staying now. We should cash in and look to get at least £5m for him. If reports are true and West Ham have "offered" £4.2m we should see who else is interested and then when (if) the numbers get to £5m say deal. It's a bit like the Chase/Sutton scenario all over again although our Board is much better now than it was back then.
Both Setanta and Clubcall reporting that Rusty wants Holty tostay! They both say he (Martin) signed a 3 year deal last week but will spend next year on loan at Palace to gain some first-team experience! What bollocks! http://www.setanta.com/ie/Articles/2012/06/11/Martin-reveals-striker-hopes/gnid-144662/?
I've had time to ponder Holts current position and feel it's time for him to feck off. He's gone public that he wants away, retweeted a "Villa wants Holt" post, and has a cnut of an agent. Holt is 31 and a 2 year contract offer is as good as you'll get anywhere.. So, take the money and get someone who want to play for the club.... He's only 1 man, we play as a team...he can be replaced.
