    Holloway unconcerned by sack race

Ian Holloway is not concerned whether he is on the shortlist of the next Premier League boss to be sacked despite Paolo Di Canio's dismissal.

Ian Holloway: Will focus on the next game with Crystal Palace

At 6-1, Holloway is among the bookmaker's favourites, with under-pressure duo Martin Jol of Fulham and Norwich's Chris Hughton at the top of an unwanted shortlist which also includes Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who is touted at 4-1.

However, the Eagles manager - who has lost four of the opening five league matches as well as crashing out of the League Cup at Bristol City - is not about to let that bother him as he prepares for the trip to Southampton.

"I will be in there somewhere," he said. "I was linked with it at the end of last season when we ended up going up.

"I have seen managers over the years get the sack for virtually nothing and it is getting worse.

"It was Arsene Wenger after the first game - and now they are top of the league. That man never flinched. He never flickered. He just went and bought probably the player he has got in (Mesut) Ozil and now they are starting to absolutely shine.

"How cool was he all the way along? Any Arsenal fan who doesn't want him should be shot, because the bloke is an absolute genius - pound for pound spent, he has got to be the best."

Holloway added: "You can't even take any notice of it (sack speculation) because if you are looking over your shoulder all the time, how can you go forward? As long as you know where you stand with people, it isn't really a problem.

"(Chairman) Steve (Parish) and I are on same page. How long we are together will be determined by results I would imagine, but as long as we keep talking and working for the same thing, that what he wants and I want are on the same page, then I am more than happy to keep working."

Holloway will return to the dugout at Southampton having served a two-match touchline ban after he was fined £18,000 following an improper conduct charge brought by the Football Association for blasting the match officials after Palace's 1-0 home defeat to Tottenham on the opening weekend of the season.

While the 50-year-old accepts he must aim to be more focused Holloway, who also got Blackpool promoted to the Premier League in 2010, always tries to maintain a sense of life perspective.

"I have a great friend at home I talk to who is a farmer near Bath. Some of the things he has to do, something breaks and he fixes them, it is just amazing. Sometimes you learn from other people in other walks of life," he said.

"I think the day you get it wrong is the day you think you know everything.

"I can only affect people, I can't affect the ball. If I get down or scream at them, what good is that?"

If SOD was to leave City and Hollowhead was offered the job at the gate, I would tear up my season ticket..Nightmare Scenario, I know...

I think your season ticket is quite safe Wizey.

First, he'd have to get the sack......................Possibly.

Second, he'd have to be offered the job...........Unlikely

Third, he'd want to accept it..........................No Way!

The guy is clearly mental, but he's not fecking daft.................<laugh><ok>
