http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24643421 He has left by mutual consent. Di Matteo is the favourite
What about our Tone. Close to Sandbanks, they need to stop shipping goals to have any hope of surviving in the PL, and of course they have Jerome on a season long loan.
Yes, JM, our prayers would be answered.............. we could at last off-load our championship quality deadwood!
It seems that TP is the clear favourite after being recommended by Holloway. Hopefully he will get the job, send Jerome back to us and take Walters, Whelan etc off us!
[h=1]Crystal Palace: Tony Pulis keen on management return[/h] Crystal Palace target Tony Pulis admits he is keen to return to management but insists "the job has to be right." Pulis, 55, established Stoke in the top flight before leaving in May and is favourite to replace Ian Holloway, who left by mutual consent on Wednesday. "It was important to take a rest," Pulis told BBC Sport. "I'm really pleased I've had contact from other clubs but they didn't feel right." [h=2]Analysis[/h] please log in to view this image Mark Bright BBC football pundit and former Crystal Palace striker "We played a direct style under Steve Coppell in the late 80s and early 90s. "We had two wingers, two strikers, and a strong midfield which pushed up, played it long, turned them round and scored goals. "Palace fans are not going to be complaining about style if they can stay in the Premier League, trust me." Palace are 19th in the Premier League and host leaders Arsenal on Saturday. Chairman Steve Parish said he is planning to approach Pulis. "He's never been relegated and he's out of work. We'll look," he said. Pulis was appointed Stoke boss for a second time in 2006 and two years later guided them into the Premier League after a 23-year absence. Despite not finishing lower than 14th in five seasons in the Premier League, the Welshman left by mutual consent in the summer after being told the club felt the time was right for him to leave. He has said he will consider roles in the Championship. Stoke's direct and physical style of football often drew criticism from other supporters and managers. "I'm sure we'll try and contact him and if he's interested we'll have a chat with him and see where we go," Parish told talkSPORT. "But I don't want to put pressure on anybody. We've started making a list, we'll throw everybody into that and see who we want to see." "I was more than happy to get relegated and come back up with Ian," Parish said. "The word 'sacked' has never been mentioned among the directors. "I wanted Ian to wake up and say 'sorry about the blip' and stay." Holloway, 50, guided Palace to the Premier League via the play-offs last season after joining in November, and signed 16 players in the summer. "All I can do is be as honest as I can and wish everyone at the club well," the former Blackpool manager said. "I need a little bit of time to chill out with the family, but I will look out for Palace's scores."
Hope it works out for him. It was probably time for Pulis to go, but I'll always be grateful for what he did for Stoke City.
I'm a fan of Pulis and put a comment on here recently that I didn't think I'd got over our split ;-) I think he has been mentioned by us whenever a managerial post comes vancant. I'm curious whether fans of other teams spend so much time thinking about their ex - manager? Did fans of Derby spend time wondering what job Clough is going to next? Do Sunderland fans worry about PDC's future (or are they just really grateful the bonkers little twerp left). Just curious whether us mentioning him so often is a testament to what we think of him, or whether some just want to make sure he gets settled elsewhere so he can never come back :-D
It does seem that TP still generates a lot of attention and debate on here even though he has left. In many ways it is testament to what he did achieve with Stoke. 10 years is a long time to be associated with one club especially in the current climate. I suspect most Stoke fans appreciate what he did here and would wish him well for the future but he is now the past and Hughes is the present and hopefully the future and we should move on........... I still find it interesting to see where TP might end up however.
FORMER Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is demanding a £1.5 million salary from Crystal Palace. Pulis is the favourite to take over from Ian Holloway, who was sacked last week, but the Express claims the ex-Potters boss wants a salary that would match his Britannia earnings- plus a bonus if he keeps bottom-of-the-table Palace up. That wage is well in excess of what Holloway earned in the job, but further talks between Pulis and Palace will take place in the next 48 hours the Express says. Palace chairman Steve Parish is also said to be contemplating the option of bringing in an experienced director of football, with former managers Steve Coppell and Neil Warnock, as well as ex-West Ham and Charlton boss Alan Curbishley all in the frame for that role. An insider told me yesterday that Pulis wants 1.5 million If HE kept Palace up! On top of his basic wage.
Crazy amount of money although as a bonus it is at least a reward for not getting relegated. The base wage is very questionable for the type of manager they need and I fail to see how Pulis is worth it, I don't think he earned that much at stoke
When I first heard him linked with Palace I didn't think he'd go. By the sounds of it Palace aren't bothered about relegation. They weren't ready to come up, and their transfer plan was to buy all the best championship players so they'd have a good squad they could keep if they went down, so I can understand him wanting 'compensation' if he's to lose his record of never being relegated.
