I see he’s resigned from Grimsby.I’ve always been indifferent to him but he has expressed enthusiasm for the Town job in the past and it’s difficult to think he’d do any worse than the present incumbent. Thoughts?
As a person, love the guy. One of, if not the most, genuine and honest guys in this business. But, as a manager, no thanks..a bit too leftfield for me. I was thinking maybe Eddie Howe would be a good fit
Not for me. Holloway hasn't had a stand-out season in the top two leagues since the 2013/14 promotion to the Premier League with Palace. He has a consistent record of quitting and shirking challenges when the going gets tough and was below average at both Millwall and QPR in more recent stints. Nowadays, he comes across as a bit of a throwback, but in a negative way. He took over a struggling Grimsby side last season and helped to keep them up. However, he recruited a load of poor players in the summer, failed to win games, and has left Grimsby mired in another relegation battle. As ptc says, Paul Cook would be my number one choice at this moment in time. I expect him to be hired elsewhere - and likely at a Championship club - over the next month though. The Cowley brothers would also be a preference for me, I think they can get us promoted.
In these very difficult times for clubs and everyone, just to wish all my Not606 'ers a very Happy Christmas and a better, healthier and merrier New Year! We have not witnessed such a year ever, but we are wiser for having lived thru it, and hopefully a better, kinder society will emerge. And the best news....Trump has gone, planet Earth's a safe place!
A while ago he was my number one choice... before we appointed McCarthy I think. I think he would be a good fit for Town in a way that the other managers since Jim haven’t been. Can’t see Eddie Howe coming. Can’t see Paul Lambert leaving either.
Merry Christmas... still plenty of dangerous leaders (for example our own!) Next year will be a slow and careful reopening. I think the big parties will come in 2022.
Old Gaffers almanac predicts Boris gone by Summer, and ITFC scrape in to top 6, and hey ho, a strong fit team jump start us to get promoted. Thats before I hit xmas pud and brandy!
Neil Thompson has got them a win after taking over as caretaker. Was a master at set pieces in his day. Loved watching that classic defence of Forrest, Stockwell, Wark, Lineghan and Thompson. What we would give for that now!
No football for nearly a month as Fleetwood game is off. Happy New Year, here’s to a brighter year all round !
Mickmac are available again........... Mick McCarthy leaves Apoel job after two months in charge https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55556544 Noooooooooooo!!!
