Here is a thought, what about Ian hollaway as manager?? He has studied our way of playing football and taken it upon himself to learn more technical aspects of football. His Blackpool team competed very well in the prem league without a defence as good as ours, he was also very unlucky to get relegated that season, going down on the final day in a season where his points tally would normally have been enough. He will come quite cheap and be a master at media and keeping the press onside,he will be great with the fans and a down to eartth guy to deal with at board level. He has proved he can manage with a lower budget and has an eye for a player, his team was very unlucky to miss out on the play-offs He Loves Stephen Dobbie !! instantly gaining 2 hard core fans in Knackered jack and DPJ Our defence wont need to be changed that much anyway so it could be a better template for him to work his attcking football off I beleive he is pretty much a perfect candidate for us, he has studied us and our type of football is a man of principle (ok they dont exisist in football) but the media adore him and he will create that buzz of excitment around the place, if we went down,he has shown he knows how to get into the play-offs with an understrength Blackpool so that would give us great continuity if needed. Thoughts??
Lets get the wheels into motion then lads, he ticks most of the boxes, has prem experience plays great football, admires the swans and loves our style of play, the English press absolutly love him thus getting the club media attention on a regular basis, he is use to working with a small budget, has picked out some nice footballers at Blackpool once again, would be extremly motivated to do well in the prem league and prove last time he was unlucky to go down!! Also our players are a season wiser which will help !
I am serious DPJ !!! he isnt a mug no matter what people may think! almost 2 promotions into the prem league in 3 seasons on a very limited budget playing great football, what is your reason for NOT having a guy like this?? If he was put in charge of the real deal instead of fabricating his own version of the swans he might even do better
I would worry about the all out attack he favours would see us conceding too many goals, as we know we don't score a huge amount, we rely on keeping games tight and winning games one or two nil. Not sure holloway would suit that tbh
Malky Mackay for me lads... There I've said it... Good Manager and likes to play football on the ground...
Hollaway has learnt from that though, and our defence knows how to play the tighter game, our defence man for man are also alot better than blackpools was when they graced the prem. If Blackpool had been here this season they would have had enough to stay up i beleive. they got done with injuries as well and have a wage limit of 9k a week didnt help him get the players he really wanted not a bad choice guys !!
I like Holloway but as the other lads have posted, I am far from convinced about his ability to coach defence. I just don't think he has the tactical nous to keep it tight at the back irrespective of the players we have there. We defend as a team and I don't believe that Holloway can coach that well enough. We need a "continental" style coach who is au fait with the type of football we play.
Don't think holloway would be my choice, now malky could fit in he wants to play like us but he has inferior players to work with. Be quite easy to get him as well as Cardiff are skint
Holloway was my choice if we lost Lambert to Villa.I think he would be briliant, not a bad manager either!
I'm 50/50 on him tbh as think better out there bookies already starting to mention him though http://news.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/foo...iverpool-bound-rodgers-at-swansea_106597.html
Good shout , he did well with the dross he has to work with ,perhaps Huw could have a word like I wonder if annie will make an announcement soon
Aren't you lot bored of that? So, so dull to watch. A cure for insomnia. Also, teams that don't freak out about the lack of possession and figure out they just need to score first against Swansea will cause your side trouble, I think.
Norway your forgetting one thing though regarding Holloway! Holloway is quite a fiery character, and one I see Jenkins not hitting it off with! Mind we'd get to see Dobbie play................ ............
Totally agree Norway, good shout - su[ported by Monk to marshall the defensive strategy Would also attract some of Blackpool's better players who would fit in seamlessly with our style eg Ince
thisismyengland, no, I'm not bored of it to be honest. Successful teams start with a tight defence. Historically, it has always been that way. No good scoring 3 if you're letting in 4 at the other end and Holloway found that out to his cost when he was relegated. Doing it our way, we finished 11th in the table which could have been a fair bit higher but for a number of late goals conceded eg Chelsea with a deflected shot off our defender in the last minute of added on time to draw 1-1 with us. In the process we also beat Manchester City, Arsenal, drew with lucky Spurs and took 4 points from Liverpool. How can we be bored? Thing is, fans of many of the teams we played against got bored and also frustrated because their team couldn't get the ball to play with. Remember, we were on a learning curve last season. Next season we hope to be better. We can but try but it won't be boring.
I'd go for Gus Poyet, he has the contacts now, and had a good few solid years. Another could be De Matteo, especially if Chelski reject him. Things are looking good, lets just hope we can still attract new players through the summer.
Said it in a previous thread that Holloway would probably be the only Brit i wouldn't mind having but i think if we're to carry on a similar playing style then maybe we need to look further a field such as Spain.
Let's see....one season in the Prem with Blackpool.....and what happened? Someone young and hungry for success who's teams play the right way, not someone who picked up an idea from watching Martinez. Oh, and I like Holloway, btw. Gus Poyet. No brainer.
