Just found out weve not appealed and its a 3 game ban!!!! Thought it was only 1 in real trouble now Charlton Athletic FC ‏ @CAFCofficial Close That means Hollands starts a three-game ban today. Scott Wagstaff (one game) and Darel Russell (two more games) also unavailable (MW) #cafc
It was a straight red so three games, 2 x yellow = 1 game ban. 2 x reds in a season = a four game ban Appeal against a red and deemed to be frivolous +1 game to ban P.S. All Charlton appeals are considered frivolous so any appeal = additional ban
And Balotelli could have broken Song's leg and no-one sees it...worst season for refereeing I can remember for quite a while.
Young off-side then dives in area! Obvious pen! Both Chelsea goals were clearly off-side! Where do they get officials from these days?
Correct decision. Hollands needs a rest. I think the red was harsh but the tackle was foolish. An appeal would most likely be deemed frivolous so take our medicine and move on.
I am Hollands' biggest fan, but he needs the rest. We have Hughes as a natural replacement and we did not even use him today, so we shouldn't consider it a mortal blow. All teams lose players for spells and we have been luckier than most this season. Listening to the commentary it did seem we missed Hollands, or someone like him, today. The game was far too open for comfort. Allowing a mediocre side like Walsall 16 shots (8 on target) and 10 corners is too many. Made for a better game for the spectators but I cannot see us playing that configuration at Carlisle where a point would be an achievement. This is not a criticism of CP. He thought we need to win all three home games so he picked a more attacking side today. That could come unstuck at Carlisle though.
I wasn't Hollands' biggest fan when he was in the team, but we did really miss him today. Centre midfielders were completely anonymous in the first half, and despite an improvement from Pritchard in the second, they still weren't great. Hollands' physicality and calming influence was missing. Hughes should definitely have played rather than Pritchard or Stephens.
I'm surprised that cafc have rolled over on this. How can you get justice when you don't lobby for it. How must holland feel when the club has turned its back on him? Would fergie take it up the backside like that?
Unhappy that we haven't appealed since it would be worth doing so just to higtlight the incompetence of Kettle. Agree that Pritchard was better in the second half but reckon we should play Hughes alongside Stephens at Carlisle.
Agree re Hughes. Don't know what he has to do to get a game at the moment. I think he and Paul Hayes must have pulled out CP's tulips or something cos it is so irrational as to be almost personal!
We missed Hollands. Stephens again was the weak leak, something not right there. Was blinding at the start of the season, whilst Pritchard made some brilliant interceptions and some good forward passes.
Stephens was playing further forward at the start of the season. To move him forward, you'd probably have to play Hughes as DM, which would also keep Jimbo happy.
nothing keeps men on this site happy!!!!.....top of the league since 17th September and still moaning!!!!...........God and they say women moan!.....think i've found the answer........
Why these continual references to gender? We are Charlton fans, not male Charlton fans and female Charlton fans? Just one happy family aren't we?
We didnt appeal not because we thought it was reckless but because we were concerned how the FA would respond (ie had they given an extra game ban he'd have been elligable for Walsall but would have missed the rest of the season. This way he's available for Preston and Hartlepool if anything is in the balance by then and it also gives him the rest everyone has been saying he's neeed since January
Completely agree. Stephens arrived as a goalscoring, attacking, creative midfielder. Hollands arrived as our defensive linchpin to be the perfect foil. Somewhere they have got lost in translation and taken on the others role. DS still remains the best ''footballer'' at the club, along with Yann, IMO
