I hope someone completely new wins it, and my favourite would be Chile. I think how far the European teams go might depend on where they have to play and at what time of day. Odds must be still very high that a South American side will win in the end. The Netherlands have the best strike force in the tournament but also a lot of younger players who may be overawed by the big occasion. Germany will steamroll over a few sides and then go out as soon as someone plays World class football against them ie. when plan A doesn't work - because to win the World Cup you need a World class manager and they don't have that. Brazil might play themselves into the tournament and progress through to the final (with friendly referees).
Chile or Uruguay. Heck, Costa Rica even. The Netherlands almost deserve it- too good a team to have never won.
I like chile too. No idea why you would want uruguay unless its soley based on suarez. They havent looked good at all.
Seb Coates If you have to lose- might as well say you were knocked out by the eventual champions rather than just knocked out by a nobody. Uruguay winning would validate England... ever so slightly. and ... Italy has already won it more times than they deserve! But yes, partially because of Suarez too... the passion and ability he brings to the game is huge. Big villain in the past but has cleaned up his act a lot in the last 9 months and I wouldn't mind seeing that rewarded.
Germany were my team way before England got knocked out. Have been for years, they play the game in the right way, promote younger players and are, without doubt, simply brilliant. English football should aspire to be German in every single facet. **** the fa and all who sail in it.
I would like to see the Dutch win it, they are the one top footballing nation that's never won the World Cup, despite getting to 3 finals. I would hate to see the Uruguains, Germans, French, Argies or Brazilians win it. Cannot stand any of those nations
