If he's in Germany, then we should f*** him off right now. We put an offer on the table, take it or leave it. He chose the latter, we're obviously not his preferred club so he can **** off.
Chelsea Fulham QPR Brentford Non-League Rugby Union Cricket Boxing Other Sport QPRQPR ‘appear to have missed out’ in race to sign Hoilett 14/07/2012 by James Ross QPR appear to have missed out in their attempt to sign out-of-contract Blackburn star Junior Hoilett, the Daily Mail say. The winger has flown to Germany for talks with Borussia Monchengladbach, leading to reports he will choose a move to the Bundesliga outfit. John Terry could face a Luis Suarez-style ban despite being cleared of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, the Daily Mirror declare. There is speculation that the FA may yet take action against the Chelsea skipper, who has always vehemently denied any wrongdoing. Terry was found not guilty. The Mirror suggest he could be charged under the same disciplinary rules that saw Liverpool forward Suarez fined £40,000 and banned for eight games for racially abusing Manchester United’s Patrice Evra. The Sun say both Terry and QPR defender Ferdinand are likely to be charged with bringing the game into disrepute as a result of their foul-mouthed confrontation at Loftus Road last October. They can expect at least a two-match ban at the start of the new season, the paper suggests. The Sun also report that Fabio Capello, who resigned as England boss in protest at the FA sacking Terry as captain, welcomed news that the player had been cleared. Capello’s son, Pierfilippo, said: “We are very happy. My personal view, as a lawyer, is that the final answer to this matter came from where it was always supposed to come.”
Hoilett would have been an exciting signing and I would be disappointed if we have lost him. However, I don't want anyone joining us who is luke warm to the idea so if we ain't good enough for him, more fool him.
The Times still has us favourites to sign Hoilett, despite his trip to Germany. Some of the attitudes on here mystify me. Here is a young man making a decision which will affect the rest of his life. He has choices to make and would be extremely poorly advised if he didn't check them all out thoroughly. Yet some of you guys believe if he hasn't signed in his own blood for QPR without thought he is some kind of traitor. Ask yourself what you would do faced with 2 or 3 job offers, all with different pros and cons. Pick blindfold? FFS.......
Absolutely spot on. Much as I love this club people forget that very few players are fans of the club they play for. Your Birchams and Gallens are few and far between. This is their job and dictates their own and their families futures. Of course they're going to look at all offers!
Well said you condescending fool ... as times I despair and in advance I would wager how many people turn on our team if we lose at home to the beautiful Swans in August
He's already had the chance at Gladbach and turned them down, it would seem that they are way short of our wage offer. I guess they would be his preferred choice as they can offer Champions League football, it depends how much THEY want him...
Apologies for the use of 'guys' in that post. An unforgiveable slip, I have been training myself to use 'lads' and 'blokes' instead. But I was quite cross with this and some stupidity on the JSP thread as well.
Good man I now refuse to attend meetings if the word guys is used. I walked out of one yesterday afternoon as the head of promotionals started her point with: "Now look guys we need to screw down the size of this tea mug ... its essential" ... I said you certainly do as you promotion launch boxes you have ordered will only take 3 mugs and the client has ordered 8! ... Point is she was more concerned at a making a point in the business style that has choked us for ten years that she missed the important stuff right in front of her.... No more fluttering eye movements for me... me thinks ... time Monday comes i will be a man who needs to go back into the hospital. Oh what a game we all play
I'm at my head office in the US all next week. If I walked out every time 'guys' and management guru jargon was used, no point in getting on the plane. I make up for it by a lot of unnecessary swearing, which as a MidWest company, they find very unnerving, but are too polite to ask me to stop.
I'm sympathetic, SB. I worked with the US daily over 20 years and use "guys" quite a bit. Lads and blokes are fine. Chaps too, although, "Listen chaps" does make it sound as if you're about to take off in a Spitfire. On Hoilett, he has a brother playing in Germany and possibly more family. He was on loan out there for two years, so presumably speaks the lingo. I suspect he may be using the English clubs to up the offer from B.M.
That's what I thought. I'm p*ssed because they couldn't agree the first time round and now he's using our offer as leverage?! **** him.
You can't blame the lad for looking at all offers. Once he's seen the what's on the table from all interested parties he can then make a decision, if it's us, then fine, but if not good luck to him wherever he goes.
