Surely thats true (wanting to stay in the premier League) of all of them, if they were asked a direct question. Of course, only a minority have a chance of doing that. Bet if Hull come in for Hill, Derry or Mackie they'll be off like a shot.
I seem to recall we got him on a free so getting anything for him will be a bonus. I agree with you though that at his age I'd have preferred to have kept him at the expense of some of our ex-Champions league stars. Howevere ****e he was this season, he was the only consistent performer in an awful Blackburn team last season. Difficult to know who is to blame. An inability to recognise when to pass or cross the ball. He has been dropped enough times this season by two different groups of 'supreme' footballing coaches, I can't believe he has n't been told where he was going wrong. Of course it could be that without Remy up front we never had anybody making runs into space or attacking the box and therefore, to an extent at least, he did not feel he had any options. Redknapp improved that - at least in the games where we actually set up to score goals as opposed to damage limitation.
Gave the ball away a lot and the chance he gave to Walcott wasnt even pub team standard. As for Hoilett, we paid over £4m for him and Id be happy just to get our money back.
There's an interesting one - always rated Routledge in Hoops, and he played well for us more often than not. When he came back on loan, couldn't help thinking he didn't want to be there but put in the effort anyway. Maybe the excitement of 2 years of PL has clouded my memory but I recall his interviews after scoring vital goals on our run in during the promotion season and thought he was disinterested - that said, he did his job, more than some of our overpaid stars have...
It was a shame the goons delayed and we missed out on signing him. He played a big role in getting us promoted. I would be delighted to have him back.
Yes, indeed.........no doubt he will shine for that club if he does move on. Hoop dreams: QPR agreed £4m compensation fee with Blackburn for Hoilett "The two clubs avoided going to a tribunal to settle the transfer of the Canadian forward who is yet to make his mark at Loftus Road." http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/qpr-have-agreed-a-4m-compensation-fee-1347198
That's what concerns me, thought he was one of the most exciting signings unfortunately done little or nothing but still expect him to do well somewhere if goes.
If he goes we definitely need to make money on the deal he's young & still think he's got the ability to do the business somewhere, just maybe QPR the wrong club or wrong time.
Problem is it doesn't work like that. They know we are desperate to get big earners off our wagebill, they also know Hoilett has been rubbish this season but has potential. He and they also know they won't pay the wages we were. The way out is we sell at a reduced fee, probably £2 million and they pay him the rest of the fee, another £2 million, as a signing-on fee and he then accepts their wage structure as part of the deal. There will be several other high-earners heading out on similar deals, we save millions long-term but lose out on transfer revenue...
Happy to see that done for the likes of Barton, SWP, Zamora, Granero, Cisse, Park, Boswinga, Ferdinand But think the likes of Hoilet, Mbia, Remy, Cesar, Samba, Taarabt assuming they go, we should be pushing for the best fee or at least a decent sell on percentage. + Harry's going to need some money to wheel & deal with otherwise we'll just be a mid-table Championship team.
Some have release clauses like Remy but we will be prepared to accept smaller fees just to reduce wages, some of which will be used to sign 'cheaper' championship players...
The board will already be crunching the salary numbers of those likely to be leaving - they know pretty much who's off; while also looking at the contracts of those who Harry hopes to keep (or let leave). Some may consider leaving if the opportunity comes, not sure everyone will get their wish - there are some long contracts that will need compensating. We're not so poor after all!
