I'm gonna say pay it. If he'll stay on what we're paying him now, pay the £10m. Worth every penny.

    Sounds about right to me.

Good to see that Hoffenheim haven't paid much heed to Swamp's "flash in the pan" valuation.

That's what they're asking for initially. It will either become the base of a bidding war, which we will lose. Or, if we are the only club interested (the noise in the media is just that) then it will be the point fom which we will negotiate down. Either way we know where we stand. Question is: what's he really worth to us and can we, as BR has recently been quoted in the Post, find somebody else to fill that role.

It's so far out of our price range it's not worth bothering I think , Superswan saying about going for other players is correct. We can't afford £10m and we can't afford the wages he'll want which probably be about £50k a week!

Siggy might also have a say in all this and if, it's a big if, we can afford the asking price and the wages I think where he goes may depend on how much he would want to stay with the Swans. My heart says we'll get him but my head says it will end the same way as Borini.

It starts at 10 million. God knows what it will end up on after some bigger clubs have a sniff. Wages is going to be the big thing, along with the asking price obviously.

Like a lot of clubs in the Premier League, in this instance, we're reduced to talent spotters.

Buck has been looking for a replacement since he tried to give everyone a hint with the " Were not far off a 5 million signing " leak to the media a month ago .

No quotes in the article and it's from the Daily Mail so sadly I don't believe a word of it, pure speculation. As has been said, if he wants to come to the Swans he'll probably end up here. Personally I still think 10mil is a bargain from what we've seen so far (and what he's done previously) and if the club think he's worth it he's clearly a player who adds something to the team which could be important. I also think the Swans would negotiate so that we'd pay less up front and then have sell on fees as we've done with other players, so I doubt we'd be paying as much as some other teams would offer. Given that the Swans aren't the biggest club in the world, and chances are if he excels further someone will pay some silly money for him, getting paid twice might be more attractive to Hoffenheim?

Fair point Scott but they would prob rather all the cash now ?

After our record £3.5m for Danny it would be a huge step up to buy Siggy not to mention his wages and iff i was a player offered trebble wages for a move to a big name club i would consider it for about 5 seconds and be gone. As thats the real world for you !

Granted it's a huge jump but if we're serious about staying in this league, and more importantly improving our squad, sadly the players we'll need to recruit will become more expensive. I think that given he's shown he fits into our system remarkably well he'd be worth it as long as we didn't have to pay over 30kpw (and even having said that I'd hope for 25!). All depends how much he likes playing pretty football I guess!

He could be a good investment but the risks involved ie- loss of form, injury etc could be prohibative to us at this time. Besides for the money he`d cost Rogers could have 2 or 3 real gems in mind . If we stay in the prem in two years time we could be buying some £10m plus players for a few positions ?

"2 or 3 gems in midfield" - Really? For 10mil? At PL level? Have to disagree there! If we got completely lucky and found another couple of bargains, then maybe, but I don't see that. Personally I like Leon and Joey sitting with Sigurdsson pushing on and I think the more those 3 play together the better they'll get. The stats show Leon and Joey have been 2 of our most consistent, if not our most consistent, performers this season and with Siggy ahead of them it's a hell of a midfield 3. 10mil for a guy we know can help us and makes it a better team, or 2 or 3 players at 3/4/5mil each with no guarantee they'll fit our system? I know which I'd be doing!

The 2-3 gems include a loan player or twos wages as per this season, i know we aint gonna buy 3 prem quality players of Siggys ability for £10m, and we need a few in other positions not just mid field as our strength in depth is not v.good as our bench week in -out shows !.

There may be a quality young player out there under the radar though that Rogers can see ?

And we dont know what budget he has to work with do we ?

No doubt! I know we don't know how much we've got to spend, all I meant was I'd rather us pay 10m for Sigurdsson than buy 2 midfielders for half the price each in the hope that they'll be as good.

A bird in hand, and all that...

Agreed i would love it if we could afford to spend that much on one player but i fear we just dont have the means to for now considering all the different things needed to be covered now and wanted for the future we gotta walk before we can run with the rich boys !. Sad but true with no daddy warbucks to chip in his millions.

Sorry but if it's true Hoffenheim are taking the piss. He's had a fantastic FEW MONTHS in the Prem. That doesn't hike a value by almost 100%.

Personally I'd have bust the bank but not to that extent. £7M max for me.
