While Benitez left them a mess they still have some decent players. Last night was shocking though! They didnt try at all and should have been beaten by more. Either the players dont respect Hodson and arent trying for him or they simply dont have the bottle? Hodson is stuck like Mowbray was at Celtic and Le Guen at Rangers. none of them good enough to turn it round instantly. Maybe in time they could have (although i doubt tMowbray would either) and you dont have time at a club like Celtic, Rangers or Liverpool Good managers like an O'Neil or Walter Smith can not only identify decent players to spend what money they have - they can also motivate the average or dross player to play above themselves. They also can install a team ethic to make an average bunch with a sprinkle of talent into an above average team
