Glenn Hoddle has joined the coaching staff at QPR, becoming their first team coach and working alongside Harry Redknapp, Joe Jordan and Kevin Bond.
He takes the role that was shortly filled by Schteve McClaren, who's doing well at Derby. Perhaps he sees this as a way back into management?

It's all a little Spurs over there now, isn't it? Two of our ex-managers and several of our old players.
Perhaps they'd consider a name change or dropping the hoops and just going with white and blue? <whistle>

They could change their name from Queens Park Rangers to Spurs Old Stagers. <ok>

This is a great move for both parties. QPR have got someone with a great football brain and who should never have been away from the game for so long, and Hoddle gets the opportunity to work with and learn from, the experienced and knowledgeable Harry Redknapp.

One would imagine this appointment indicates Redknapp is taking more of a backseat role, i.e., less travelling from Dorset. So one would suspect Hoddle will in all likelihood not see too much of Redknapp in action.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Redknapp is in his last season or two of his career so perhaps Hoddle is intending to take over if this goes well in the short term. 'Arry said he would've quit if QPR had lost the Championship final as he didn't feel motivated for another season at that level and I reckon he probably feels the same way about relegation battling in the Premier League.

On the contrary, since getting back into the PL, Harry has got all his old enthusiasm back and is revitalised. He struggled in the Championship, it wore him down, but now he is back to his old self. Expect to see plenty of car window interviews !!

R's fan in peace..............great appointment in my opinion.

Dont have a problem in the slightest with the links to ex spurs players, either bought or loaned tbh ....... we can learn a lot from you guys.

Now, if you would just be so kind and swap Kane and Townsend for Remy we can look forward to a better chance of survival this year :)

Thanks but no thanks. From what I saw on Saturday, I think Townsend will have a good season and I'd rather it was for us <ok>

Good signings from Redknapp. Hoddle who's a talented coach to Caulker who's best they could sign and 5 goals last year from set peices , Mutch (7 Pl goals last year) and Isla who's played 352 with Juve and Chile.

It's interesting to see the 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2 or whatever they're calling it now) coming back into fashion.
All to do with football's cyclical nature, I guess, but systems that would never be used in one decade go on to become the standard in the next one.

I wonder who's next to step out of the managerial graveyard?
Hoddle probably sees this as a footballing reincarnation, though...

As a QPR fan I think its great Glenn has joined Harry and his coaching team. Have to say having seen a lot of Hoddle in the 80s at Tottenham he is still the greatest passer of a football ive ever seen live and thought he was a pretty good manager after. Now looking forward to the Tottenham v QPR game next week and good luck to Spurs for the season after sunday week.

With the connections (and a common dislike of your local rivals Chelsea) you are probably becoming the second team of lots of us - so good luck to you for the season (next week - and return - apart of course). Hoddle will be superb for you, glad our home game comes early, before he's had much influence. Hugely underrated coach.

Tottenham would have always been the team I supported if QPR weren't around. I spent many years on the shelf when Rangers were playing away in the 80s watching the likes of Archibald and Crooks. The 82 Final cup final was a final of my dreams so was only a bit disappointed when Hoddles penalty won the replay. Well the less said about the other West London team the better.

    Here in peace,
Im well pleased we've got Hoddle at QPR now.
One of my all time favourite players and managers and his football knowledge is superb.

We're just hoping Harry is bedding him in ready to take over later in the season or next season.

I reckon he has a lot to do with the way we re going to play and even the players we are targeting. As much as i'd like Andros back.\, I'll stick with remy thanks. He is a real threat and will score. Andros (as great a player as he is) hasnt really done that over the last season (according to stats.)
Dont get me wrong, i rate him highly, just rate Remy higher thats all.
We'd swap Chalie for Andros though if you want ?

Good luck for the season lads, hoping to give you a decent game this week but i think this fixture has come just a little too early for us. <ok>
