http://www.thisishullandeastriding....t-Hobbs-risk/story-13031414-detail/story.html Ayala available for circa £1 million Nigel not sure yet. Bullard gets sacked monday, Daniel arrives tuesday and hail Mr French Tickler. We shall see.
if Ayala's services were secured either perm or loan i think that gives NP I dilemma at the back. People are banging on about how good Chester is and him and Hobbs are the best CB combo and as things stand that's right but Ayala was outstanding when he was here before and only went off the radar after his injury and then being at Derby when he wanted to be back here. He made Gerrard look like a complete chump. If we get him, he plays!!!!!! COYH
what i cant understand was if Ayala was available for a 1 million why on earth didnt we just buy him instead of Hobbs?
If no-one else comes in for Ayala, then he could end up going for less than £500k, as he doesn't seem to be in Liverpool's plans at all and he's out of contract in the summer.
ayala clearly loved it here, and NP clearly loved him so its one that probably will be looked at if we can afford him. agree with all of those who say it'd be hard to want to take either of chester or hobbs out of the side though.
True, but if Ayala is available some of the lower EPL teams might come in for him in which case he may prefer to play in premier league?
He might prefer Derby if we can't guarantee him a starting XI.. and I wouldn't drop Chester for him..
Yeah if a prem team comes in you would expect him 2 want 2 stay in the prem but certain players like certain managers and Ayala presumably knows what to expect from NP
It would make great competition for places though, and in what is a tough physical league you need a bit of strength in depth in this position. Chester & Ayala to start against blackpool, then it's up to Hobbs to work hard and get into the starting XI. It would be all good
if ayala came on a permanent its only a matter of time before he forces his way until the first 11, hes the best centre back ive seen at city since turner, and hes far better on the ball.
I would certainly like Ayala back here, but all this he loved it here, he loves NP etc etc. Sounds too much like the Campbell story. There are plenty of good centre backs out there i dont want to pin all my hopes on him.
The problem with buying Ayala would be we'd then have 4 centre backs all capable of playing in this league, infact i'd argue they'd all start in every other team. I don't want Ayala in, not even on loan. McShane is very clearly backup (very good backup) and we know if Ayala comes in Chester is going to be dropped or moved to some **** position despite him being our best centre back. Keep Hobbs and Chester together, McShane as backup and either get some cheap centre back with experience or get a young loan one who NP will not used to push Chester to awkward positions.
Agree with both sides of the Ayala argument, I want him 2 sign but would like Hobbs & Chester to be in the team. Chester's best position is centre back so wouldn't want 2 compromise him in midfield or full back. NP is buying youth though and Ayala certainly fits the bill, if Macca had gone I think we would be seeing Ayala in our squad but financial restraints mean we dont have 1 million to throw at a player that we dont necessarily need. If indeed Ayala becomes available at a cut price i think we will make the move 4 him because he would be seen as an investment with plenty of potential.
What's everyone's problem with dropping one of Hobbs or Chester? Yeah ok they are both top players and both have a bright future at the club, i totally understand that a lot of you want to be loyal to them and keep their defensive partnership going as it looks promising. But if we can get Ayala in and if he's better then what's the problem? Some of the comments i'm reading seem to suggest a few of you don't want to sign Ayala in case he ends up being better than Chester or Hobbs? That's just bonkers! I'd love us to sign Ayala, but if Hobbs is fit then he should start with Chester against Blackpool as they've had a full pre-season at the club and it would be up to the new player to break into the starting 11, Ayala wouldn't expect to walk into the starting line-up. In fact he saw for himself how well Chester is playing when Liverpool came here, so i doubt he'd expect it. Either way i'd like us to sign another CB at least on loan until January when we can recall Cooper if we need to. McShane is suitable cover but you should have 4 CB players all capable of playing at this level IMO. Bradley looks good but i wouldn't be concerned about pushing him down in the pecking order, he's got time on his side.
VERY TRUE. Also, did not Assem Allam say on radio humberside that he had never said NO to the Pearsons ? It would cost at least 300-500K in compensation anyway to Liverpool next summer so as Ayala has a re-Sale value the Allams would not think twice about another 500K ? Patience in all things.
I'd like to see Ayala and Chester as our starting pairing, but I don't think NP see's it that way and I'm afraid Ayala's return would probably see Chester on the bench and I think that would be a mistake.
