After two years of to-ing and fro-ing I have finally been informed that I do not have any outstanding corporation tax due for the time I was self-employed. Depending upon who I spoke to at HMRC I was either due them £8K or nothing at all. Chronically managed by them. This has been a major worry for me and I'm thinking of putting a case against them for undue stress. They hounded and hounded me when, all along, I owed them nothing. Poor show if you ask me. I was even going through the process of bankruptcy. You've no idea how difficult that is for Joe Bloggs. If your a multi-million pound company that has gone into debt it's a piece of piss to declare your company bankrupt and start somewhere else afresh. Anyone else had any harrassment? A wee celebration is in order tonight I think.
You should have killed yourself instead of stressing about it so much (that's probably what the outcome of your case will be)
Yeah I had a two year fight with the ****s. They said years of expenses for flights and hotels were not payable by the company but personally. I won in the end but not before they got very threatening, then begging by offering to let me off with half of what they said I owed.
Got a letter from HMRC this very morning, telling me I've been given the Tax Code D0 (whatever the **** that is), and that a company I did a months work for nearly 2 years ago will deduct tax at 40% of my income. As I doubt I'll ever work for that company again it all amounts to a minor headache brought about by the incompetence of HMRC. I am also convinced the ****s owe me money from a couple of years back when I didn't work for 4 months, but I don't hold out much hope of ever seeing that. While big business shafts the taxpayer and donates to "Dave" Cameron's Bullingdon Posh Boys Party, the little man gets robbed by the government.
The tax man is nothing to be feared as long as you are sure you are in the right. Basically, they chance their arm from time to time. Did you know tax inspectors get a bonus based on tax they rightly or wrongly claw back? If you know you are in the right tell them tae **** off.
This happened to me - they sent me a letter saying "we know you have an undisclosed 2nd job". A company I'd left two years previous had issued me with a redundancy and pension contributions payment but they hadn't declared it until the following tax year or something. Gie them a phone - it's murder dealing with them but they sorted it out for me right away.
In Scotland it's impossible . You might have found it easier if you sought sequestration ya senile auld fanny .
