Is it **** , it's the Mirror again, a Mag Rag, they've been sensationalizing our plight for a while now.
Like I said on the Big Sam thread mate, it's probably just lazy journo what-if ****. Still think it's worth a tenner, odds-dependent obviously.
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ws/dick-advocaat-refuses-nail-colours-9906772 There's another one for ya I ****ing hate the press...
If,IF, they're genuine verbatim quotes, that's going to do nothing to instil confidence in potential signings minds.
It's not really rocket science is it mate? DA commented he might walk, we need to replace, who's available? oh lets link Big Sam, he has connections and is out of work. Poxy ****ing lazy journo's mate. I honestly don't think DA will walk away, i hope not anyway.
I think DA will love to ram the comments from the press and so called experts back down there throats he strikes me as a man who loves a fight. The players will have read the **** in the papers also and you would think they would love to do the same. If we win today the press will move on to another victim there worse than leeches. Let the press and co get on with it then we can laugh in there faces AGAIN
Here you go fella. It was the Mirror who completely made up the 50m warchest out of nowhere. This confirms it's bollocks. It's not lazy neither, it's calculated and manipulative because they know most people are daft and buy it. Hope you didn't part with a tenner on that rags word. Ellis Short has not broken any promises after there was never a figure placed on Sunderland’s summer recruitment drive, says Dick Advocaat. Short has come in for the first widespread criticism of his Sunderland tenure this week after a modest outlay in the transfer window so far has prompted frustration among supporters, who have seen the Black Cats swept aside in their opening two games. People are writing that we discussed figures, no – we discussed about how we improve the team Dick Advocaat Advocaat has made no secret of Sunderland’s need for further acquisitions after declaring the club needed half-a-dozen “quality” signings at the end of last season. When Advocaat held talks with Short prior to his return to the Stadium of Light during the summer, the chairman agreed on six signings – potentially including two loans – but no numbers were mentioned, despite false reports that the ex-Holland manager would be backed with a £50million war chest. There are question marks over how many of Sunderland’s five signings so far in this window fit that “quality” tag, although the Black Cats remain in the market for fresh faces. Signing ex-Swansea midfielder Jonathan de Guzman would be a step in the right direction after Sunderland entered into talks with Napoli over the Dutch international, who they are understood to have been tracking for several weeks. Sunderland are thought to have virtually agreed a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal with Napoli, with de Guzman now deciding whether to return to the Premier League or join French side Marseille. But Advocaat accepts Sunderland are operating on a limited budget and says Short is not to blame for that after the owner has seen millions squandered by previous regimes, with the club still paying instalments on transfers from the last couple of years. “We are all working with one target – to make this club a better club,” said Advocaat. “But knowing what has happened in the past and knowing what kind of salaries average and even below average players have had here, a lot of people have made a lot of mistakes and the president has to pay that. “I think it is a little bit unfair to only blame Mr Short. “People are writing that we discussed figures, no – we discussed about how we improve the team. “We never discussed £10m, £20m, £30m, £40m, £50m. We said we have to improve and we have to make the team better. “And so far we have tried to do that. “On the other hand, if we bring in players for £3m or £2m or nothing, it will take time because for that price normally you get back-up players. “And for three of the four (Jeremain Lens, Yann M’Vila and Younes Kaboul) they have to become regulars. “We need also a bit of time with the players and we also still need to try and get somebody in – one or two. “Normally the panic starts in March, but if you read the newspapers now it starts in August! “That’s a little bit strange – understandable, but strange. “There is no reason to point the finger and say it is your fault or my fault.” However, when Advocaat was asked whether he felt the team had been improved sufficiently so far during his window, he replied: “No. Definitely not. “But let’s wait a week or so, when it will be easier to say something about that. “I think we will get a better team than last season. “I’m very confident about that.”
If there's anything than Sunderland have proven over the past few years its that having early points on the board or a team capable of Premiership football is of no relevance to their survival in the league. Your club is like 1960's Batman, it doesn't matter how bleak it all looks or how powerful the opposition I just never actually believe your going down. Mourinho likes to monologue too much for that.
Yep but they write what they want and laugh at us as we panic like bitches and give them more to dramatise. Point of my thread coming clear. SAFC fans are bunch of puppets. Anything in the national print should be ignored or ridiculed unless they carry recent form for god work, never should be taken as truth to start panic time and time again.
Short has spoken and put Mickey Gray right in his ****ing place. Said at the time that idiot should know better.
