Why has his loan been extended? We get in a South American striker that Harry hasn't seen and leave Hitchcock out on loan scoring freely, all be it in a lower league. It just seems madness to me, we have very good youngsters and don't make use of them.
He scored one goal that I could've scored with my eyes shut and he's suddenly become the answer to all our problems, get real, he isn't that good...
I think you're too harsh and not supportive enough. He wasn't accidentally standing there for that goal. Anyway, it's one goal but a player can step up to a bigger platform and why should we not have faith in him? The clubs that he's loaned to do. Oh, I know... maybe you think we're entitled to be a "big club" and he's a name you don't think worthy?
You've obviously seen him in training, know what his strengths and weaknesses are, know what his skills are and what he has to work on tactically, physically, mentally, what his "football brain" is like, talked to him about his ambitions, etc, etc. No? Oh, I see. You've seen one appearance from the subs' bench when he scored a goal, maybe some playing time during pre-season and some EDL games. I wonder, who is better qualified to make the decision?
Now you're getting silly. So we have all seen Delatorre and Keane including, most importantly the man who is qualified to make this decision? We are all entitled to ask the obvious question and expect something a bit more than just a deafening silence. If he is crap why we do we have him at all? If he needs more time and experience to develop. ie, he's not quite ready yet, surely it's possible for the manager to say so? Oh I forgot. In Redknapp we trust. May be we should but he does need to work on making an effort to carry us all with him.
Hitch will get more experience this season than if with our first team. We will learn more about him as he plays week in week out in competitive games. It's a shame this wasn't happening for him a couple of years ago and maybe he would be pushing for that first team spot this season. I hope he does well and uses the opportunity well to show the management his true potential in matches where winning is all important.
I think there would be too much pressure on him playing for us. As stated above, he's scored one tap-in and it has raised the hype to stupid levels. Another 20 games banging them in for Rotherham will do him and QPR more good in the long run.
This scenario plays out often I'm sure. Team has young player, not quite ready (or quite good enough yet) for first team action so is loaned out to get experience. We've brought in Carroll this season, had Walker and Townsend previously to name a few. Managerial TEAM will know exactly what the player has to offer before making the decision to let them go on loan. Maybe the 2 young guys we've brought in will be better, they might be worse, but trying them ahead of a player that we (the QPR coaching staff) already don't think is ready for us, makes sense.
In a word Yes. Much as some would like to believe Hitchcock is the answer to our prayers he obviously isn't good enough, we have about 10 mins of game time to go on but the manager (as did the previous one) would have seen what the lad was about in training etc. Whatever his faults Harry isn't a lunatic if Hitch was that good of course he'd be in the team but lets face it he's been with the club for long enough now and at 23 it isn't looking likely he's going to get in. Also it's not like he is a product of the QPR youth set up, came with is dad didn't he?
we really have no idea if the lad is actually any good or not. he scored a 2 yard tap in and we've taken it as as a sign of genius.
He is 23 though so not exactly a young, youngster he'll only have a couple more years before Flyer saying he's too old to play.
No we haven't, but the club employs (alleged) experts who will have and they advise the man who has to make the decision about who to go for. These players are not selected by sticking as pin in a player directory - although it might seem that way some times. I also don't see why every decision has to be explained to the fans. If he does say things then he is criticized for saying too much, says less and he is criticized for saying too little.
Just had a manure mate of mine on the phone, reckons this Keane chaps the real deal and will do a job for us, this mate goes to reserve and youth games up there so knows and to be fair said mâcheda was a donkey, been injured though
