QPRRangers to consider Hitchcock loan move Tom Hitchcock 23/08/2013 By David McIntyre QPR are considering sending striker Tom Hitchcock back out on loan. The 20-year-old, who spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers last season, scored on his Rangers debut after coming on as a substitute against Ipswich on Saturday. He will be on the bench again for this weekendâs match at Bolton, after which his short-term future may lie away from Loftus Road. âLetâs see how we go,â said Rangers manager Harry Redknapp. âWeâll see what the next week or two brings and if heâs not in the side and we loan him out again then hopefully heâll score some goals. âIt was great for him to score and thatâs what he is â a little goalscorer.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/rangers-to-consider-hitchcock-loan-move? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
was just thinking during this week that he will probably go out on loan, would like to see him start against Swindon myself
He's played 7 odd minutes and scored a tap in from one yard out and suddenly he should be starting or shouldnt be considered to be loaned out to get regular game time? Get real people, he may turn out to be a great player at some point but if he was the next hot thing he would surely have broken into the team before he was 20! What he needs is a run of first team football and if he unlikely to get it here then loaning him for a half season to start with is a very good idea.
Must mean thatHarry's got a striker or two in mind. I'm ok with this, tbh, as I agree, 7 minutes and one tap-in doesn't qualify him as ready. *runs for cover*
insane, weve got 1 forward who can be counted on, one forward whos playing at 40% and another one who can be counted on to miss at least half the season. He can go on loan but only if we get in 2 or 3 replacements or there will be a time when we dont have a single fit forward.
Hardly "insane" without knowing what might happen before the window closes. He could still be loaned with a recall clause. Sounds to me like Harry doesn't want him festering in the reserves if we have fit and functioning forward line. Get him some proper games. Yes, it would be insane if we loaned him out for the season or for three months without a callback clause and the possibility of injuries. BUT Harry didn't say that. So why instantly label it insanity when it hasn't happened?
I take HR's comments to mean that the loan's dependent on who we sign. Personally, I'd like to see Hitchcock continue to be involved in the match day squad.
Let's be truthfully honest. Had he not scored at the weekend, nobody would have even considered him being a first team player. He needs to go out on loan again, as last season his record at Bristol Rovers (i think) was far from convincing.
We only have 3 forwards, even with everyone 100% fit, Hitchcock will still be on the bench. Seeing 2 of the 3 are hospital cases, Hitchcock is a borderline starter now. Thats not because hes great, its because we have no one else.
Flyer, read what Harry says ffs. “We’ll see what the next week or two brings and if he’s not in the side and we loan him out again then hopefully he’ll score some goals.
There's another interview with HR (or perhaps part of the same one) where he says the young players will continue to be picked unless replacements are bought. Maybe a little caution is called for before we all start going off on one, again. Also, indirectly, this is a message to Hitchcock: score some goals and make it difficult to send you out on loan.
I think by the sounds of those comments we are looking to bring in a striker or two in the window. If we only get 1 then I still think we should keep Hitchcock, if we get two, perhaps a loan. But as it stands definitely not. He is on a high from last week, so we need to keep him going and get the best from him.
He got released by Blackburn Rovers, not sold but released, scored 3 in 17 for Bristol Rovers last season which isn't exactly prolific, I'm not saying he won't turn out good but some people on here are going on like the sun shines out his arse because he put away a goal that my Gran would have slotted in. As others have said Harry hasn't said he is going for sure, depends on what happens with transfers and how involved he is, he will no doubt get a bit of game time and maybe a bit extra in the cup but at his age if he isn't going to get regular football then we should look to send him somewhere he will!
A sense of perspective is needed here, Hitchcock is a young, promising, but far from complete striker who has done nothing out of the ordinary - I could have put that ball from Austin away, as could most of you lot! He can be a back-up to our main strikers but nothing more if we are serious about going up, we need a fourth striker and it won't be him. Anyone old enough to remember Phil Nutt? Came on and scored against a top Derby side in the 70s and was called the next big thing, disappeared without trace, he's driving a minicab now, that's reality...
Whilst I agree a sense of perspective is needed - I wouldnt say it was the finish that made the goal good, but his positioning. Zamora would have never been in that position to tuck that away. He has the strikers instinct to position himself correctly. But as I started with, that goal doesnt mean he is going to keep doing it every week, far from it!
