"Discussions are ongoing between Steve Davis and Harry Redknapp about the youngster returning to Crewe on a similar deal later this month."

WTF's Steve Davis got to do with it?

They listen to me...but it sounds as though he has only one match to impress in the FA cup match vs Everton...we are definitely not gonna risk Austin in that one are we (are we!)

His loan was due to end on the 7th anyway, so if we did not give them permission to play him in the FA Cup this makes perfect sense.

Edit: Having just read the offical website, Crewe are not playing this weekend.

    He is the Crewe manager.....

He'd be a great partner up front for Austin, keen, enthusiastic and can score too.

Be madness not to bring him home, especially considering all our injuries, latest being Hoillett again.

And then loan him straight back out again. Lets face it, Arry would have Carlton Cole over Hitchcock every time. Chances of a youth player making the step up almost impossible under Redknapp

This is, unfortunately true. HR will see it as a risk and would rather get someone with more experience. HRs target is a short term one - Promotion. We as fans would always like to see youth players make the step up but I think it unlikely.

He will get one game, then be shipped out again, prove me wrong redknapp.

I'd rather have Hitchcock play than Cole.

Great news - but it does look as if its just for Everton, then he goes back. Which is a massive shame as he is certainly worth playing over Zamora.

    Hitch Returns To QPR

    PUBLISHED

    13:00 2nd January 2014

But striker may yet return to Crewe after their FA Cup tie against Everton

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that forward Tom Hitchcock has made a return to Queens Park Rangers. Hitchcock’s loan had been due to expire on January 7th but with the Alex having a free weekend, the 21-year-old has been allowed to make an early return to Loftus Road to enable him to be available for Rangers’ FA Cup tie with Everton on Saturday.

Hitchcock has been in excellent form since arriving at the Alex in late November. The former Blackburn Rovers forward has bagged three goals in six games for the Alex and has helped the Railwaymen to three crucial League One victories.

He will now hope his form with the Alex can earn him a place in the QPR squad that travel to Goodison Park this weekend.

Discussions regarding Hitchcock’s future after the Everton tie are still on-going between the two clubs with a return to the Alexandra Stadium on a similar loan deal still a possibility

    One game to impress!!
I would say that may be all he needs....however he had a FULL 10 minutes to impress against Ipswich...and look all he managed to do was SCORE THE WINNING GOAL!

FROM ONE INCH AND AN OPEN GOAL!

I would like to see some our youth integrated with the 1st team but I think some of this Hitchcockisteria is slightly overboard.

And if we achieve this year's short term target we will just have another short term target next year - survival - which makes it equally unlikely that youngsters will get a kick. Hitchcock is 21 not 17, either he's not good enough (then sell him) or he needs a run in the team.

In the unlikely event he plays against Everton I hope he has a blinder and gives Harold a real problem.

    Agreed in principle...

It is not hysteria...We have one fit (ish) forward...who is excellent...and two partially fit others (one of which Zamora...is @@@@)
We have a young player out on loan, who is scoring for fun (albeit in a lower league), but surely he is worth a place on the bench ahead of AJ ans Zamora

But he was there, wed had several balls flash across the box in previous games with no one there, at worst he deserves a place on the bench.

Send him out if he fails to impress in 4 or 5 games but at least give him that.
