but I looked at the fixtures again today. I could not help thinking as I looked at the various teams that we're not going to beat them, we might stand some chance of beating another but we couldn't even beat Leicester or Burnley last season.

I'm not a WUM and I'm generally positive about QPR but I really hope Harry manages the key signings and gets a decent preseason with the team.

Feel free to metaphorically slap me with a wet fish if too negative too early on.

Just took a quick look at relegation odds and we're 2nd favorite after Burnley, but no club outside of the top 7 are longer odds than 10/1 for the drop, so while we're likely to struggle so are quite a few other clubs.

It's basically a 14 team mini league and we "only" have to be the 4th worst.......still basking in the Wembley afterglow.......

RTID, it's way too early to be talking about relegation - let's wait until we see what the squad will look like first!

Jeff, I'll see your kipper and raise you a cod. A little meatier, I think :D

I predict a lot of signings ... there has to be. I don't believe the tone coming out of LR. We need to build and Harold's toolbox looks empty to me and I can only guess that he is already planning and tapping up players

The problem may come if Beard and the board don't secure his targets ... maybe the bad knee will cut in

Any other Flyer type team and players will need to get together sooner than later or we will just be shopping for names again and to credit Hughes a bit what else can you do?

There must be a strategy now for survival so I fully expect players like Rio etc to be signed

Generally it is actually the team who wins the Championship that does the worst in the PL, with the other two promoted sides doing a bit better.

2011 - 12 - We were champions in 10/11 and we finished lower than Swansea and Norwich the season after.
2012 - 13 - Reading were champions and were relegated. Palace and Hull both survived.
2013 - 14 - Last season Cardiff went up as champions and were the only 1 of the 3 to come back down.

There are lots of stats on which promoted team, gets instantly relegated.

Usually there is the managerial change; bringing too many players and unsettling the team; injuries; a number of key recruits dont work out; not spending enough money.

We have to enjoy from here to say Christmas, if we are in a relegation spot, that is the time for the worry beads.

Until then, rejoice, we are in the premier league !!

Are you Flyer in disguise? Next season will be tough but I do wonder whether some of the more optimistic among us needed a wake up call when the easiest games on paper at least are going to be Leicester, Hull and Burnley. No disrespect to those three but it's going to be a tough season. I just hope Tony doesn't panic and opens the cheque book too easily. I'd rather sow genuine seeds for the future who can be introduced gradually and nurtured rather than invest in a whole new squad every year. We already have a good few old wise heads. Let's try to bring the average age of the team down a bit.

Jeez, cheese and Febreeze, I hope you're wrong, Ploppyface.

I think the club needs to trawl through for the best players from the relegated squads and the best from those that missed promotion. The out-of-contract PL stalwarts are fine and dandy, just so long as we end up with a good enough blend of experience and hunger...and more than just a smattering of talent.

I can't credit Hughes for much. He got it wrong, plain and simple.

Lol. Definitely not! It is way too early for speculation of course. Happily we've learnt our lesson from the last two.seasons in the PL hence no one is predicting a top 10.finish!

10 wins and 10 draws from possibly 26 games is a tall order, anything that we get from the 12 games against the top 6 is a bonus.......

Still it is way to early to be thinking about these things.......

Now all together...."Oh Bobby Zamora"

I’m the opposite- looked at the fixtures and thought that is so do-able

I look at; Newcastle, Stoke, Man United, West Ham Burnley and Leicester. And then WBA, Hull, Villa who all failed to get to 40 points last year and think they have got the same fixtures over a season as us. We could definitely finish above 3 of them.

Don’t forget the big teams are also beatable- in our dodgy 2 recenty seasons we still managed wins against Liverpool, Chelsea (twice) and Arsenal and should really have had a win against City

Also while I’m no massive fan of Arry’s I’m hoping he will fair a lot better than that clueless mug Mark Hughes who we spent a season and a halfd with who literally didn’t want to win any away games.

Some sensible additions and we can more than cope with a lot of that league
