Evening everyone, Just got back from the Histon match, unfortunately our pre-season goal fest came to an end and we conceded a couple, but it was a decent match, against much better opposition than we have faced so far I think, and all the players gave a good account of themselves. I was particularly impressed with the young goalkeeper Remi Matthews, made some good saves and looked confident coming for crosses and corners, maybe the next in a long line of good young city goalkeepers! Couple of other players showed some good glimpses of skill, the midfielder Kelly has a good touch and good distribution, although still needs to beef up a bit to compete, and the strikers were quick and skillful although they didn't danger the Histon defence too much. Our defence was a bit shaky at times, although the big centre half (Deaman I think, the triallist) seemed strong in the air. Unfortunately Adeyemi picked up an injury so had to come off, had looked in good touch before then, let's hope it's nothing too serious. All in all a good run out, and a good taste of more competitive football, will let them know that not every match will be an easy 6-0 win! Anyone else at the match with any comments? Was secretly hoping Naughton would make a quick dash to make an appearance but didn't happen!
Excellent report. Possibly a bit unfair outing that much youth against seniors but from what a couple of reports have said they gave a good account of themselves.
Thanks for the report cambridge always good to hear about the potential of any youngsters coming through the ranks
