We had a thread last year about how Humberside Airport is too small and doesnt want to expand. Someone on here works there, does this mean they want to expand the number of flights too? Hope so. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hilt...side-Airport/story-25909748-detail/story.html HOTEL giant Hilton has confirmed it is bringing its brand to Humberside Airport. The international chain is to operate a new 103-room hotel at the airport. The £7m development is expected to open next year. Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton Worldwide's senior vice-president of development for Europe and Africa, said: "Humberside Airport is a vibrant passenger and cargo hub, and home to the second-largest heliport in the UK. Hampton by Hilton Humberside Airport will appeal to passengers travelling through the airport, and alleviate the growing need for quality, economy hotel accommodation in the wider Humber region." The hotel, which was granted planning permission in October, is being developed in conjunction with North Lincolnshire Council. It will be operated under a franchise agreement with Nightel Ltd. Nightel already runs a hotel at the airport, catering for offshore workers in the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors. Owner Paul Green, who is responsible for bringing the hotel to fruition, said he was "absolutely delighted" to partner with Hilton Worldwide. "Signing the agreement is a real coup for us," he said. "It speaks volumes about the standard of development we are bringing forward." Plans for the new facility, which will be developed on land between the existing Nightel Humber Hotel and the main A18 road link, include a restaurant, a bar, a 24-hour fitness centre and on-site parking. Its target market includes tourists and corporate visitors requiring access to the UK's offshore wind farm industry and oil and gas activities in the North Sea. Once open, the hotel will join more than 35 Hilton Worldwide properties at European airport locations. The £7m development has been part-funded by the Regional Growth Fund grant through North Lincolnshire Council. Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of the council, said: "We are extremely excited for this £7m hotel to be built; it is going to give the area a real boost. "It will not only regenerate the area by creating new jobs but will also enable people to stay longer in our area and discover what fantastic things it has to offer."
