Sorry if this is the wrong place. I was incensed yesterday to catch a radio 5 news report detailing a copper giving evidence and saying that the normal practice was to fill one pen at a time. This is untrue, I was there two years earlier for Leeds v cov and we were in leppings lane no one filled the pens it was everyone for themselves, and there but for the grace of god went we.

I hope someone involved in the inquests points out the tissue of lies this ex copper spouted in a bid to blame someone else. The report went on to say that this copper spent the Saturday night in the police social club bar with his mates after the disaster. Disgusting.

Even if thats true its not a defense. They filled the pen, but they continued sending more people in, instead of then filling the next pen. Even in that scenario they are guilty.

Thanks for sharing your view <ok>

1988 same venue same teams Liverpool v Nottm Forest all warnings about crushing were totally ignored, it could have happened that year or as you said the year before. The whole thing is shocking and the police cover up, an absolute travesty.

You're right and shame on those who ignored all the warnings and even more shame on those who ducked responsibility and then lied.

Can remember being stuck in the Leppings Lane central pen during a semi final against Arsenal a few seasons before the game you mentioned, both pens to either side were locked and half empty and the police had locked the door to the tunnel out

Luckily enough of us were able to climb over the fences into the half empty pens and relieve the pressure for those still in the central pen.

Needless to say South Yorks police weren't arsed on that day either, the disaster was always going to sadly happen, it was just a case of when not if.
