Finally justice is served
now the 96 can RIP and the families can at last have some space to continue their own lives without the struggle

 

Hillsborough Justice Campaign slam police for turning inquests into a 'battle'

The Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC) called for “rigorous and speedy” criminal investigations after the jury found the 96 victims of the disaster were unlawfully killed .
The HJC also slammed police and ambulance officials for fighting “tooth and nail” to prevent the jury from making findings that were critical of their handling of the 1989 disaster.
They accused South Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service of doubling the length of the inquests by turning the hearings into a “battle”.
In a statement, Elkan Abrahamson and Marcia Stewart, from Broudie Jackson Canter, the law firm representing the HJC, said: “The jury’s conclusions completely vindicate the families’ long fight for justice."
The HJC’s lawyers added: “It is now 27 years since the Hillsborough families found themselves thrown together by the appalling tragedy that led to the loss of their loved ones.
“At the outset, that and support for Liverpool FC was probably all they had in common.
“The intervening years have brought much greater commonality: the shock and dismay at the way they were treated in the aftermath; anger at the cover-up which started immediately following the disaster; frustration and disbelief at the deficiencies of both the legal and political processes which failed to deliver justice; and, above all, a constant and enduring tenacity and dedication to exposing the truth which has, despite all attempts to derail the process, stood firm over the decades.”

Doesn't change what happened but at least it's some consolation for the families involved. They can now try and get back to living their lives

Now it's a reality, whenever you hear this at Liverpool matches it will be a statement of fact and a celebration of the truth overcoming a variety of underhanded conspiracies, lies and deceptions concocted by the authorities, the press and the naysayers

Finally, a great injustice is starting to be put right. Now there needs to be prosecutions for Duckenfield and those who acted to cover up the true cause.

I was in The Leppings Lane End in '81.No lives were lost that day but it was pretty scary in there with my kid brother. 37 people were injured in what was an identical incident in the same location, 8 years previously. As soon as i saw the footage on TV in '89, I knew what was happening. That it happened before is damning. As soon as it happened again there should have been immediate criminal investigations. Peace to those affected.

 

At last some closure is coming up.

That 96 people can die as a result of actions from people who were supposed to look after them - the spectators is a monstrosity that should never be allowed to ever happen again. Anywhere. Hopefully those who were responsible will now face justice and pay for their gross negligence and cover up.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for the families and campaigners who fought for so long to see the truth made public. This could have been any city and any set of supporters in those dark days when fans were treated like animals at games. It wasn't any city though. It was yours. All genuine football fans will celebrate this with you, though none will feel it as deeply as you do.

Anyway, at least the families can now finally have some closure.
