High Court date set for Carroll sale dispute.

    From The Sun, Monday:

    And the melody lingers on.

The FA is set for a legal battle to stop details of Andy Carroll's £35million transfer being revealed.

The striker's move from Newcastle to Liverpool was a record switch of a British player in 2011 and went through on the January transfer deadline day.

Carroll was in dispute with his agent Peter Harrison at the time and could, in theory, negotiate the deal himself.

However, under FA rules, the agent who has the player under contract is allowed a percentage of the fee.

The FA has so far blocked attempts to have details of the deal publicised, as is standard practice with transfers. But that could happen when Harrison takes the governing body to court on March 25.

The FA have declined to comment.

The dispute between Tyneside-based agent Harrison and our record sale has now rumbled on for over three years, with The Guardian highlighting the situation online here within hours of Carroll becoming a Liverpool player. They then published a further analysis online here

Harrison failed to convince an FA arbitration soon after and by late 2011 had been served a bankruptcy notice. He's continued to press for the compensation he believes is owed to him from his former client and that fight has now moved on to the High Court.

That could have been the deal clincher.

Harrison's a crook isn't he. Sounds bitter to me.
